Joe Rogan once screamed at arena staffers during live UFC event for spilling ice all over fighter’s corner

Joe Rogan had a rare moment of on-air anger in between rounds during the UFC 109 undercard.

Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan has been at the center of some of the most memorable moments in MMA history while sitting cageside.

Rogan, Daniel Cormier and play-by-play broadcaster Jon Anik have become the gold standard of UFC and MMA broadcasting. The trio is a common staple of UFC pay-per-views, including at UFC 317 last weekend for Ilia Topuria‘s wild knockout of Charles Oliveira.

Rogan is known for his animated persona during broadcasts while watching some of the world’s most dangerous athletes go at it inside the Octagon. But at UFC 109, Rogan’s usually positive nature took a big turn during a bizarre moment in the cage.

Joe Rogan vs. The Ice Spill remains one of the UFC’s funniest moments

As lightweights Melvin Guillard and Ronys Torres treated fans to a back-and-forth clash, a weird moment occurred in Torres’s corner in between rounds. One of his cornermen attempted to put an ice bag on his back as Torres’s coaches gave him mid-fight advice, but disaster struck as the ice bag ripped open, leaving about 100 ice cubes all over the canvas.

Arena staffers then rushed into the Octagon to clear the ice out, but prematurely left the cleanup with ice cubes up against the fence. This prompted a hilarious on-air moment as Rogan gave the play-by-play of the chaos that ensued.

As several staffers attempted to leave without fully cleaning up the mess, Rogan lost it, as you can watch below in the timestamped video.

The clip quickly went viral at a time when social media was just starting to gain traction in popular culture. Guillard went on to defeat Ronys Torres by unanimous decision on a UFC 109 card headlined by Randy Couture vs. Mark Coleman.

Rogan has sat Octagonside on the UFC broadcast desk through the ups and downs of the promotion’s history. He doesn’t plan on leaving the UFC broadcast team until UFC CEO Dana White steps down from his post.

Joe Rogan teases breaking his one UFC rule after Ilia Topuria’s stunning knockout

Fast forward to 2025, and Rogan could potentially fly overseas to commentate Topuria’s first lightweight title defense if the UFC books an event in Spain. Rogan usually doesn’t make the trip for international UFC cards, but hinted at potentially making an exception if Topuria headlines an event in Spain.

White said at the UFC 317 post-fight press conference that Spain isn’t currently on the promotion’s event radar, despite Topuria being a no-brainer for a pay-per-view headliner. But that could change as 2026 quickly approaches.

Regardless of where Topuria’s next fight takes place, Rogan might make the trip overseas to commentate another massive UFC main event.
