UFC 317 has taken several knocks with cancellations impacting the International Fight Week card.
The biggest setback was when the highly anticipated middleweight clash between Paulo Costa and Roman Kopylov was rescheduled for UFC 318.
A heavyweight matchup between Justin Tafa and Jhonata Diniz also fell off the card several weeks before the festivities kicked off in Las Vegas.
With the Friday weigh-ins being the final hurdle left to clear, every fight was confirmed for June 28 aside from one late notice bout.
After coming in 10 pounds heavy for his middleweight outing, newcomer Christopher Ewert was instantly cut from the roster without stepping on the scales.

Christopher Ewert’s coach reveals he attempted to cut 30 pounds during UFC 317 fight week
The undefeated Christopher Ewert was a late notice addition to the UFC 317 card as he replaced Sedriques Dumas to face Jackson McVey.
Ewert last fought in January and was scheduled to make an appearance on the upcoming season of Dana White’s Contender Series, with a matchup against Yuri Panferov being scheduled for August 12.
While his opponent did step on the scales and hit the mark, the 31-year-old didn’t make it this far, with Dam Hellie announcing during the weigh-in show that Ewert wouldn’t be in attendance after being 10 pounds overweight.
Jon Anik later announced that the UFC newcomer had been cut from the roster entirely, with his coach now providing more details about what went wrong.
Nolan King reported that Ewert’s coach, Javier Torres, claimed that when his fighter received the call to step in on Tuesday, he weighed 217 pounds.
In attempting a drastic 30-pound cut on short notice, Ewert and his team were able to drop over 20 pounds but eventually, they hit a road block where his body wouldn’t drop any further, forcing the UFC to cancel the fight.
Charles Oliveira calmed fans’ concerns by successfully making lightweight
Having previously lost his lightweight title on the scales, some fans were concerned about Charles Oliveira’s weight cut for UFC 317.
There had been videos posted, which could have been from a previous cut, which some fans took as ‘Do Bronx’ starting the process earlier than usual.
Ian Machado Garry described his teammate’s cut as a “beautiful experience”, admitting in an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show that it brought him to tears.
Oliveira successfully stepped on the scales at 154.5 pounds, confirming his lightweight title clash with Ilia Topuria that will headline the card.
