Key points
Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr are finally putting their lengthy feud to bed tonight in Anaheim, California.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer is coming back to the ring for the first time since fighting Mike Tyson in a record-breaking but ultimately drab showdown last November. His chosen opponent? Former middleweight world champion Chavez Jr.
He and the son of a legend have been on a collision course for years, and now finally meet after the Mexican star returned to the ring last summer. And they’ve packed the undercard with major names in the boxing world.
Headlining the prelims is UFC legend and Hall of Fame boxer Holly Holm, who takes on the unbeaten prospect Yolanda Vega. Then on the main card, Floyd Schofield faces former world champion Tevin Farmer.
The co-main event is a fascinating cruiserweight world title fight that sees Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez defend his belt against Yuniel Dorticós.
We’ll have all the info for tonight’s event right here on the Bloody Elbow live blog.
Jake Paul pays emotional tribute to Ben Askren
A touching moment after a kind of comical post-fight speech.
[Link]Paul hits back at the booing crowd
He declares it was ‘easy work’ and that he was only hit cleanly ten times.
[Link]Jake Paul defeats Julio Cesar Chavez by Unanimous Decision
Jake Paul survives the late onslaught from Chavez Jr and wins his toughest test to date (aside from Tommy Fury, who, you know, beat him).
99-91, 97-93 and 98-92 for Paul by UD.

Paul trying to work behind his jab as the Honda Center crowd rallies behind Chavez. He’s known for not having heart, but if he can show some here he has Paul hurt. Paul is being hit like he never had before but Chavez leaves it too late and we go the distance!
[Link]Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 9
Paul lans low and Chavez complains, leading to a brief stop in the ‘action’. Chavez lands a left hook and a good right hand, then a big one to the body. Is Paul in trouble late in this fight? Best round of the nine for the former champion who is beginning to put pressure on a tiring Paul. Chavez uppercut, Paul lands in return, then Chavez hurts him again! We head to the tenth with Chavez in the ascendancy, but Paul surely in the lead on points. Do we get this stoppage?
[Link]Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 8
Perhaps the least active round yet thus far, as a fight erupts in the crowd that causes more excitement than what’s going on in the ring. Chavez lands, Jake lands back, then we have another cuddle. Bit of inside fighting there which favors the Mexican, but this fight is going Paul’s way as we head to the ninth.
[Link]Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 7
Back to what we had been used to in the seventh as they slowly dance around the ring. Jake is looking the freshest he has at this stage in a fight, but he’s hardly setting the heather alight and it’s hard to see where the knockout will come from. The loud boos are back.
[Link]Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 6
Chris Mannix has every round for Paul, and he lands a big right uppercut to start the round. Chavez wears it well, but will that be a turning point? After a drab five and a half rounds, the former champ lands big and the fight comes to life as Paul begins sitting down on his punches!
[Link]Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 5
Chavez seems to have woken up as he lands a solid left-right to start the fifth round. He’s landed a couple of good shots here as Paul begins his customary mid-fight slowing down. Lots of clinching from the YouTuber, who doesn’t seem to like being hit even by short punches.
[Link]Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 4
Jake lands a food counter left hook and is now starting to move forward a bit and unload. That gives Chavez some confidence as he begins to let some punches go of his own. It’s getting more lively now, Chavez lands a solid counter right just behind Paul’s ear, who takes it well and goes back with punches of his own.
Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 3
Chavez is illiciting loud boos from this crowd, who expected much more from a former world champion. Paul is boxing quite conservative given his opponent has no interest in throwing a punch at all. Chavez throws a big left hook, doesn’t land, but even that gets the crowd going. It’s 3-0 Jake now, but not very entertaining at all.
[Link]Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr – Round 2
Chavez is at least throwing now, but he doesn’t seem to be able to find his distance with Paul who is the longer fighter and beginning to look much bigger. Chavez Jr does finally land one after loud boos and Paul answers with an uppercut, right hand. Another Paul round, and these fans aren’t happy.

Tentative start from both men, for a former middleweight Chavez Jr has filled out well for cruiser. Jake lands a big right about two minutes in, likely steals him the round as Chavez swings wildly and misses, before being hit again and complaining of a back of the head shot.
[Link]Chavez makes his walk
The fans love him here, lots of Mexicans in attendance. They loudly boo Jake!
[Link]Zurdo Ramirez defends his cruiserweight titles
115-112 on two cards, 117-110 on the other and Zurdo Ramirez gets out of jail to maintain his WBA and WBO cruiserweight belts. Dorticos did much better than those scorecards would indicate, particularly the bizarre 117-110.
We go the distance in the co-main event
12 hard rounds from Zurdo Ramirez and Yuniel Dorticos. Hard to score. Will that deduction play a big part in it?
[Link]Zurdo and Dorticos hit round 12
And what a final round it is as Dorticos lands a big counter right on the whiskers of Ramirez.
[Link]Dorticos has a point taken
Scandalous there, the shot was hardly low and he hasn’t been that bad with it all night. Zurdo might be saved by that deduction because this fight has been close.
[Link]Zurdo and Dorticos both slowing down as we head to the championship rounds
Not the most exciting fight to support this main event. Jake Paul will surely look at this and fancy his chances.
[Link]Zurdo comes alive in the seventh!
Much more lively as we kick off the second half of this cruiserweight world title fight. Jake Paul will be watching with keen interest.
[Link]Halfway through Zurdo Ramirez vs Yuniel Dorticos
Somehow, Dorticos might be up halfway through this fight.
[Link]Zurdo and Dorticos very lively
There’s a good chance that 39-year-old Dorticos is winning as we head to the halfway point.

[Link]CURIEL STOPS RODRIGUEZ IN THE FOURTH
That was perhaps a little early, but Rodriguez was pretty badly cut so it might make a bit of sense. The crowd are loving this!
[Link]DOWN GOES RODRIGUEZ
Right hook from Curiel and he smells blood now. Pushing for the finish as the round goes on. One minute left in the fourth.
[Link]Big reaction for Raul Curiel here
Chavez Jr has brought out a big Mexican crowd in California, and they are loving Curiel.

Not necessarily for a fight, but wants to entertain the discussion of possibly being signed after their press conference scuffle.
[Link]JULIAN RODRIGUEZ KNOCKS OUT AVIOUS GRIFFIN
ANOTHER BIG UPSET TONIGHT WITH SECONDS TO GO! RODRIGUEZ TAKES A BIG SHOT BUT LANDS AN EVEN BIGGER ONE. GRIFFIN CAN’T GET UP! GAME OVER! WOW!
[Link]DOWN GOES RODRIGUEZ
Just as I type, the fight springs into life as Griffin drops Rodriguez while the pair exchange.
[Link]Avious Griffin and Julian Rodriguez stinking out the joint
Very boring fight thus far as Griffin and Rodriguez fail to live up to their pre-fight trash talk. Eight rounds in and very little to report.

[Link]Holly Holm defeats Yolanda Vega by Unanimous Decision
100-90 across the board for UFC and Boxing legend Holm, who treats fans to a back flip after ten hard rounds!
[Link]We head to the ninth
Dominant thus far from Holly Holm. There’s an argument to be made that Holm has won all eight here.
[Link]Yolanda Vega hits the deck!
Not a knockdown, referee rules it a push but Holm is dominating through five.
[Link]Holly Holm is likely two rounds up here
Very impressive work from a veteran who looks every bit the legend they’ve been promoting.

Solid outing by Gueche who scores his eighth pro win!
