Bella Mir returned to competition with a win at the UFC’s inaugural BJJ event.
The 22-year-old daughter of former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir boasts a 3-0 professional MMA record, but she hasn’t fought since a first-round submission win over Jessica Link in June 2022.
Since then, the talented prospect has been focused on wrestling at North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Dana White and co. supported her career by giving Bella Mir the UFC’s first-ever amateur NIL contract in 2023.

Bella Mir wins at UFC BJJ 1
After three years away from the MMA world, Mir returned to make her UFC debut on Wednesday.
Carol Joia was her opponent at UFC BJJ 1, which saw MMA’s top promotion branch out into a new sport.
Mir controlled most of the round with top pressure and an arm-triangle choke attempt.
In the second frame, she was forced to fend off a leg lock before making the most of a scramble.
Mir jumped on a D’Arce choke to force the tap with the same submission Islam Makhachev has used to beat his last two opponents.
Bella Mir wants to make history at the 2028 Olympics
Post-fight, she outlined her goal to become the first active UFC fighter to go to the Olympics.
“Honestly, if it was up to me, I probably would be doing all of it at the same time,” Mir said.
“I feel like I’ll have a couple of prelim fights for the UFC, and then once [Los Angeles] 2028 comes around, I’ll be like, ‘Is it okay if I just don’t fight just this year?’
“I could see that happening, or I could see it just wrestling, doing jiu-jitsu on UFC Fight Pass, and signing with the UFC right after 2028.
“It’s also Dana’s call. I’ve had meetings with him a lot about what my future looks like and what he wants me to do. And he pushes college wrestling a lot. He also pushes 2028; he wants me to go down that route, too.
“It’s just a lot of talking with people close to me about what’s best.”
