Fedor Emelianenko made a major error that cost him dearly on June 26, 2010.
The heavyweight legend put his epic 28-fight unbeaten streak on the line in the main event of a Strikeforce show in San Jose, California.
Fabricio Werdum was the man given the herculean task of dethroning Russia’s feared phenom.
The future UFC champion made it look shockingly easy as he beat Fedor Emelianenko in just over a minute.

Fedor Emelianenko’s rookie error cost him dearly
Fedor Emelianenko boasted a 31-1 (1NC) record heading into his fight with one of MMA’s most dangerous submission artists.
So, it was a massive surprise when he made a rookie mistake inside one minute against Werdum.
During a wild exchange of punches, Emelianenko managed to bundle his opponent to the floor.
However, he mistook an apparent slip for Werdum being badly wobbled by one of his punches.
Smelling a finish, ‘The Last Emperor’ made a massive mistake as he jumped into Werdum’s guard and tried to close the show with ground and pound.
Once there, it became clear that Werdum wasn’t hurt at all as he was quickly wrapped up in a triangle choke.
Emelianenko fought to escape the submission, but he ultimately tapped out after just 69 seconds.
Joe Rogan calls Fedor Emelianenko the heavyweight GOAT
In February, Joe Rogan named MMA’s greatest heavyweight ever during a debate on his podcast.
Brendan Schaub kicked things off by declaring, “I think Cain in his prime is the best heavyweight ever.”
Rogan interjected to express his view that Emelianenko is the best big man we’ve seen in MMA.
“It’s hard to say because of Fedor,” he said.
“If you could get juicy Fedor from Pride, I don’t know if anybody beats Fedor in his prime.
“He was so good, dude, Fedor walked down Cro Cop when he was in his prime.
“You’ve got to remember most of that fight was standing up, and Fedor was going blow for blow with [Mirko] Cro Cop and walking him down. That Randelman armbar, he f—ing suplexes him on his head and five seconds later he’s got him in a kimura, it’s crazy. He was different, he was a monster.”
