One of the biggest boxing events of the year takes place on June 28 as Jake Paul takes on Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
After Jake Paul’s controversial victory over Mike Tyson, he sought a huge fight to build on that victory.
While Paul initially wanted to face Canelo Alvarez, he eventually penned a deal to face former WBC Middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
With former world champions split on who will win the fight, it should be an exciting fight filled with unpredictability as Paul looks to cement himself as a legitimate contender in professional boxing.
Other fights on the card include Gilbert Ramirez defending his Unified Cruiserweight world title against the mandatory challenger Yuniel Dorticos, as well as former UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Holly Holm returning to boxing to take on Yolanda Vega.
Ahead of Paul vs Chavez Jr, the experts at Bloody Elbow and Bloody Knockout have made their staff picks for the three top fights on the card, including which fighter will take home the victory in a massive main event.

Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr
- Kyle Dimond – Jake Paul
- Jamie Theodosi – Jake Paul
- Harvey Leonard – Jake Paul
- Donal Long – Jake Paul
Paul is the favorite going into the fight with the Mexican former world champion, and the experts all agree that he is going to prove himself a capable fighter on June 28.
They are unanimous in picking Paul, who has lost just once since turning professional, over Chavez Jr, backing youth over experience in the latest superfight from the YouTube star.
He is coming off a win over Tyson, who, while being 58 years old, was a former world champion and an all-time great in the sport.
You’d have expected Paul to challenge the elder Chavez instead, but he (and the experts) clearly back himself to take on an active boxer who boasts a world title in his career.
Paul has impressed against top athletes like Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva, and should be good enough to beat his first real test in Chavez Jr on June 28, in what should be a record PPV milestone for Paul.
Gilberto Ramirez vs Yuniel Dorticos
- Kyle Dimond – Gilberto Ramirez
- Jamie Theodosi – Gilberto Ramirez
- Harvey Leonard – Gilberto Ramirez
- Donal Long – Gilberto Ramirez
While Dorticos may be a disappointing challenger for Ramirez, the experts can’t look past the Cruiserweight champion in what should be an easy win on the Paul vs Chavez Jr card.
All four of them predict that Ramirez will pick up the win and defend his unified title in a match that was originally scheduled to take place in April this year.
This will be one of the biggest fights of Dorticos’ career. The former world champion has only fought twice in the past four years, and this could be his final time to taste gold before hanging up his gloves.
However, the experts have spoken and they have predicted that it is too little, too late for the Cuban and that Ramirez will walk out of the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, still as the World Cruiserweight champion.
Holly Holm vs Yolanda Vega
- Kyle Dimond – Holly Holm
- Jamie Theodosi – Holly Holm
- Harvey Leonard – Holly Holm
- Donal Long – Holly Holm
The experts have made a clean sweep, as they also all back Holm to roll back the years in her return to professional boxing.
Nearly ten years after Holm knocked out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193, the former Bantamweight champion is the favorite to beat Vega in her 39th fight.
The 43-year-old has experience over “Pitayita”, who is undefeated in her first ten fights as a professional.
The 30-year-old Mexican has yet to face anybody on Holm’s level. Even though it has been twelve years since her last bout, the experts are backing the UFC legend to pick up the win on the big stage on June 28.
