Ilia Topuria predicts exact combination that will flatten Charles Oliveira at UFC 317

Ilia Topuria has continued to promise that Charles Oliveira will be the victim of devastating violence at UFC 317.

Topuria is just days away from his opportunity to join the club of two-division champions on mixed martial arts’ biggest stage.

The Spaniard already achieved title success at featherweight, where Topuria knocked out Alexander Volkanovski to win the belt before defending it in similarly brutal fashion against Max Holloway.

‘El Matador’ is now set for an immediate shot at glory in his return to lightweight, as Topuria fights Oliveira in the UFC 317 headliner for the vacant 155-pound strap.

Against a man who has suffered many knockdowns in the UFC, the ex-featherweight king isn’t expecting to need many punches to do the trick on June 28.

Ilia Topuria expects simple combo to sleep Charles Oliveira at UFC 317

Topuria recently previewed his International Fight Week showdown with Oliveira during an interview with Simon Head for UFC.com.

The always confident Spaniard has never shied away from expressing his high self-belief, and that trend has continued in the lead-up to UFC 317.

“From the first second, he’s going to feel the speed and the power,” Topuria said of Oliveira. “He’s going to start to look for the takedowns and for the ground game. But I think that it’s going to be very, very quick, because I’m going to finish him in the first two or three minutes. 

“He has done amazing things in the sport. I respect him as a sportsman. As a human being, he seems to be a nice guy. But we are going to fight. And when we are competing with each other, I go all in. Just be careful!”

He then gave a simple prediction for how he’ll send Oliveira unconscious to the canvas.

“Jab, jab, one-two, and it’s over!”

Ilia Topuria’s brutal undefeated run ahead of UFC 317

Not only is Oliveira tasked with doing what no man has done by defeating Topuria in MMA, but very few have even survived the power in the 28-year-old’s fists.

Thus far, only Youssef Zalal and Josh Emmett have reached the scorecards against ‘El Matador’ in the UFC. While the Moroccan failed to hand him a debut decision loss, Topuria utterly dominated Emmett across five rounds to earn his title shot.

And two of Topuria’s most devastating knockouts came in 2024 at the expense of all-time legends Volkanovski and Holloway.

‘El Matador’ will now hope to add Oliveira’s name to his list of victims and stall the fan-favorite Brazilian’s plan to begin a second stint on the UFC’s lightweight throne.
