UFC legend brands Jon Jones ‘a cheating little rat’ following retirement from the sport

Jon Jones’ career in the UFC has come to an unfortunate end and not everyone is willing to give him his props for a unique career.

This past Saturday following the UFC’s first ever event in Azerbaijan, Dana White officially announced that Jon Jones has retired from the sport, relinquishing his heavyweight title.

Despite being widely regarded as the greatest fighter of all time because of his impressive resume and the things he has achieved in the sport, it is undeniable that his actions towards the back-end of his career have tarnished his legacy.

And with that, after confirming his retirement with a post on social media, Jon Jones‘ emotional post was hijacked by fans who continued to troll him for ducking Tom Aspinall for several months.

Mark Hunt brands Jon Jones ‘cheating little rat’ following retirement

Despite leaving behind one of the greatest legacies in the sport, there is still a large part of Jones’ career that will be looked at as completely controversial.

From several suspensions due to testing positive for banned substances, to suspensions due to his actions outside of the cage, ‘Bones’ will go down as one of the most controversial fighters of all time.

Not only that, but throughout his career, Jones garnered a reputation for being a cheat. So much so, that ahead of his title fight against Jones, Rampage Jackson admitted he trained for eye-pokes, knowing Jones’ tendencies.

And although Jones’ retirement from the sport should be a celebration of what has been an incredible career, not everyone is seeing it in that way. UFC legend Mark Hunt has gone in on Jones, branding him a ‘cheating little rat’.

“Jon Jones is the greatest cheat of all time, that’s all he is and that’s how he got to the top end,” Hunt began to explain in an interview with Thunderpick.

“That’s how he got to hang out with guys like me, he’s a cheating little rat. That’s all he’ll ever be. You can’t be the greatest fighter in the world when you’re sticking needles in your ass and hiding under the Octagon from USADA.

“How are you supposed to be the greatest fighter? Your world titles mean nothing, you’ve been caught as a shortcut taker, that’s all you are,” Hunt continued.

Dana White regrets giving Jon Jones so much time

Following the entire saga including Jones and Aspinall, White always remained adamant that the fight would ‘100%’ happen.

Despite that, following Jones’ official retirement, White admitted that he regrets giving Jones so much time to decide whether he wanted the fight or not, taking responsibility for holding up Aspinall’s career.

Fortunately for the UFC fans, though, Aspinall has vowed to be an active champion, declaring that he wants to get the heavyweight division moving again after months of uncertainty.
