Tyson Fury is delighted after learning about Jon Jones’ retirement from MMA.
On Saturday, Dana White confirmed Jones has walked away from the sport, making Tom Aspinall the new undisputed UFC heavyweight champion.
Tyson Fury used to spar with Aspinall before he transitioned to MMA and became a UFC superstar.
All these years later, ‘The Gypsy King’ continues to champion his old friend every chance he gets.

Tyson Fury reacts to Tom Aspinall’s undisputed news
Aspinall reacted to being the new undisputed UFC heavyweight champion on social media.
The Englishman shared a photo of himself with his belt, alongside the caption: “For you fans. It’s time to get this Heavyweight division going. An active Undisputed Champion.”
Aspinall also shared a graphic celebrating his new undisputed status on his Instagram story.
Fury reposted it to his 6.7 million followers on the platform with a caption to celebrate his ex-sparring partner’s monumental achievement.
The former heavyweight world champion wrote: “Get up [there], my boy!”
Tom Aspinall recalls his time training with Tyson Fury
Aspinall credits Fury with changing his approach to fighting during their time training together.
“I trained at Team Fury for, altogether, about 18 months or two years every day. That experience was just fantastic,” he told the UFC in March 2022.
“Before I trained there, I was in my early 20s, so I would take it a bit too seriously. If I would make a mistake in a gym or in a fight, I would really take it to heart and get down on myself.
“Then when I went over to train with the Furys, especially around Tyson, he would take it just as a sport and not too seriously. He would mess around a lot and really enjoy his training.
“It was just nice to be around that. I learned a lot, technically, but really just seeing his approach and how much he does enjoy it and not take it too seriously that rubbed off on me.”
