The Rock reflects on touching moment that UFC legend he plays in upcoming movie learns about Hall of Fame induction

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is set to be in attendance for the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony on International Fight Week.

During UFC 316 earlier this month, the final UFC Hall of Fame class of 2025 inductee was announced with Mark Kerr entering the Pioneer wing.

The former two-time UFC heavyweight tournament winner has been a big topic of discussion this year with The Rock set to play Kerr in an upcoming movie.

On October 3, Benny Safdie’s ‘The Smashing Machine’ will hit cinemas with The Rock delivering a lead performance that left fellow legend Bas Rutten with goosebumps.

After dedicating a significant amount of time to accurately playing Kerr in the movie, The Rock reflected on the emotional moment that the news of his Hall of Fame induction was made official.

The Rock congratulates Mark Kerr ahead of inducting him into the UFC Hall of Fame next week

With Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson inducting Mark Kerr into the UFC Hall of Fame next week, the speech from one of the greatest talkers of all time is sure to be special.

Seeing Kerr get his recognition as a legend of the sport who hasn’t spent much time in the spotlight in recent years will be emotional, as the announcement proved.

During UFC 316, Jon Anik delivered a short speech before a video package of Kerr’s time in the UFC played out inside the arena.

Kerr was in attendance at the Prudential Center where UFC cameras caught his stunned reaction to the great tribute that he received from the MMA leader.

The Rock reflected on this video in a recent social media post where he spoke about Kerr’s emotional reaction and congratulated the legendary fighter who he will always have a bond with.

“Look at Mark Kerr’s eyes when he hears from @Jon_Anik for the first time that he’s being inducted into the @ufc Hall of Fame. This moment was a complete surprise for Mark – he had zero idea he was being inducted.

“His eyes welled up and all he could say over and over was ‘wow’,” Johnson wrote. “And his words are perfect, because sometimes the world is too big to talk about. It’s my absolute honor to induct my brother Mark Kerr into the UFC Hall of Fame. Hard to put into words, but his life changed mine. Congratulations Mark, and congratulations to all the 2025 UFC inductees.”

Who else is in the UFC Hall of Fame class of 2025 which will be inducted next week?

During International Fight Week, three other names and one fight will join Mark Kerr in the UFC Hall of Fame.

Ahead of her highly anticipated return to the Octagon, former UFC bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes will join the Modern wing.

Reality TV producer Craig Piligian enters the Contributors wing for his work on ‘The Ultimate Fighter‘, with Israel Adesanya’s UFC 236 war with Kelvin Gastelum being the latest addition to the Fight wing.

Last but not least, one half of the UFC 317 main event will receive recognition via the Forrest Griffin Community Award following Charles Oliveira’s work in setting up free education and martial arts training via his ICBronxs institute.
