BKFC boss confirms talks with Nate Diaz after free agent got called out by UFC rival

The BKFC are still interested in signing Nate Diaz.

At 38 years old, the former UFC superstar remains one of the hottest free agents in combat sports after his UFC release in 2022.

Diaz has since stepped into the boxing ring, fighting marquee names like Jake Paul and former BMF champion Jorge Masvidal.

It’s been nearly a year since Diaz last competed, with the Stockton native on the receiving end of several call-outs, the latest coming from the only fighter who knocked him out: Josh Thomson.

The retired Strikeforce champion Thomson said he was recently in talks to box Diaz and last week, Thomson offered to rematch his UFC rival in boxing or the BKFC.

Following a great night of fights at BKFC Texas, BKFC President David Feldman was asked if we could see Diaz vs. Thomson 2 under the BKFC banner.

David Feldman says he’ll talk to Nate Diaz this week about potential BKFC future

Feldman has had his eye on Diaz for a while now, bringing him out to see a BKFC event ringside before.

As far as fighting in the BKFC goes, Feldman says Diaz’s scar tissue has held him back from a potential crossover.

“I’ve talked to Nate a bunch of times,” Feldman said of the possibility of Diaz fighting Thomson in BKFC.

“Nate Diaz is a warrior, but he gets cut a lot.

“And that’s his fear of bare knuckle, which is getting cut too much. But I think a lot of people are calling him out right now in Bare Knuckle, and I think I’m gonna have a conversation with him this week.

“So, we’ll see how that one goes.”

Diaz has had many cuts over his face in his UFC career and that’s with four-ounce gloves on. Diaz lost his BMF title fight with Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244 in 2019 due to how bad a cut over his eye got.

Saturday night’s BKFC event featured cuts in just about every bout, with one fighter receiving multiple lacerations in the first fight of the night.

David Feldman teases BKFC’s biggest event after Texas debut

Feldman has a lot on his plate this week.

In addition to a talk with Nate Diaz, the BKFC founder plans to announce the biggest event in bare-knuckle boxing history in the coming days.

“We have a phenomenal, unbelievable event that we’re gonna announce this week,” Feldman said.

“It’s gonna be our biggest event that we’ve ever done.

“I think it’s gonna draw massive pay-per-view numbers.

“It’s gonna be a massive, massive event for us. It takes us to another level,” Feldman added.
