Charles Oliveira holds these impressive UFC records that set the stage for his title clash with Ilia Topuria at UFC 317

Charles Oliveira already holds a number of UFC records as he prepares for his upcoming title fight with Ilia Topuria.

The Brazilian fighter is aiming toward becoming a two-time UFC Lightweight champion at UFC 317, in Charles Oliveira’s main event clash with Ilia Topuria.

His 15-year career with a number of impressive finishes puts Oliveira in good standing against his undefeated opponent.

Oliveira will have his impressive UFC record in his mind as he makes his game plan to take down Topuria at UFC 317.

Charles Oliveira holds two records in the UFC

Oliveira is a legend in the UFC, and the records he holds in the company only prove that fact even further.

The Brazilian fighter has finished his opponents – beating them before the final bell has rung to end the fight – 20 times in his career so far.

That is one more than the 19 finishes Jim Miller has managed in his career, handing Oliveira the record for the most finishes in UFC history.

Not only that, but the 35-year-old has also managed 16 submission wins since debuting in the UFC with a win over Darren Elkins in 2010.

This is three more than Miller, although he has one more submission win in the Lightweight division, due to Oliveira’s foray into Featherweight fighting in the middle of his career.

Oliveira can beat Miller’s record, but it will be a tough fight when he steps into the octagon with an undefeated former champion.

Charles Oliveira will have to submit Ilia Topuria to beat Jim Miller’s record at UFC 317

Oliveira will need to fight the contest of his life if he wants to match the record for the most submission wins in UFC Lightweight history.

That is because nobody has managed to submit Topuria in his career so far, or even beat him in any manner since his UFC debut in 2020.

Topuria has won ten bouts by submission in the Lightweight division, which includes his title defense against Dustin Poirier in UFC 269.

That earned Oliveira the fight of the night, and he will need as impressive a performance if he wants to win the vacant UFC Lightweight belt against Topuria.

The fight was booked after Islam Makhachev vacated the belt to move up to Flyweight, giving Oliveira the chance to become a two-time champion by beating Topuria at UFC 317.
