Jon Jones could still fight Tom Aspinall, but not anytime soon, according to a former MMA star.
Currently, the MMA community is joined in unison, hoping a showdown between the UFC heavyweight division’s undisputed and interim champions finally comes to fruition.
While Curtis Blaydes says Jones isn’t scared of Aspinall, fans are growing concerned with the legend’s lack of enthusiasm for the contest.
However, one former middleweight title challenger says the match-up could still happen, although, we might have to wait a while for it.

Chael Sonnen says one of Jon Jones’ coaches told him when a fight with Tom Aspinall could happen
Chael Sonnen has opened up about a conversation he had with one of Jon Jones’ coaches about a potential showdown with Tom Aspinall.
‘The American Gangster’ came out of the chat with a big concern about what was said.
In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Sonnen explained: “I spoke to somebody very close to Jon, I spoke to one of Jon’s coaches. I did say, ‘Hey, is he going to fight Tom’. And he said, ‘I think so next year, I do not think he will this year’.
“My interpretation of that, I think what Jon is looking for is for Tom to do something else. Jon said, ‘Just fight somebody else’.
“You’re talking about a year from now, you’re talking I wanna see Tom fight two or three more times. Will Tom still be the champion in two or three more?
“If we go a year from now, and Tom’s not, where would be the interest in seeing Jon come back?
“Three fights from now, do you know how rich Tom is going to be? To make believe Tom is gonna be as willing and in the same spot, it’s a big risk.
“If you’re in Jon’s spot, you’re waiting for one specific thing, which is the right time to fight Tom, but what if the champion is no longer Tom? Who under contract could you possibly imagine could command the kind of money that Jon is being offered even if it’s a year from now?”
