Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. names four ‘killers’ he wants to face after winning Jake Paul ‘money’ fight

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. wants to fight the very best after he has dealt with Jake Paul.

The former WBC middleweight champion’s career has taken a massive downturn in recent years, but he believes beating Jake Paul on June 28 will propel him back into the world title mix.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. says he would entertain a rematch with the YouTuber-turned-boxer before trying to secure a fight with one of the best light heavyweight or cruiserweight fighters in the world.

The son of one of boxing’s biggest legends, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., recently named four ‘killers’ he’ll try to fight once his rivalry with Jake Paul is over.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s four-man hit list

Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez and Jai Opetaia currently own three of the four major cruiserweight world titles.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. believes a fight with either of them could be next if he overcomes Jake Paul.

The 39-year-old also named light heavyweight rivals Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev as potential opponents as he outlined his plan to fight the very best in the near future.

“I wanna fight a rematch with Jake Paul. A rematch with Jake Paul is a money fight, so that’s why I don’t wanna say no to this thing happening,” Chavez Jr. told Ariel Helwani on Wednesday.

“For real, what I want is to fight the best. I’d love to fight ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez. I’d love to fight a cruiserweight champion. [Jai] Opetaia is a super, super strong guy.

“I’m here because I want to fight the best. If Opetaia offered me, if Ramirez offered me, after this fight or another fight, I’m there.

“I’m ready to fight Bivol at cruiserweight or the other guy, Beterbiev. That’s my goal. They are killers.

“So, wait until after June 28, and after that, we’ll do another interview and talk about that fight.”

The recent form of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Nothing about Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.’s recent record suggests he can still compete at the top.

The reality is that the Mexican star hasn’t won at world level for more than a decade.

Canelo Alvarez won every round when they fought in May 2017, and things have only gotten worse since then.

Chavez Jr.’s famous father told him to retire after an embarrassing loss to faded UFC legend Anderson Silva in 2021.

Back-to-back wins since then have presented the former champion with the chance to face Paul.

However, he’s a pretty heavy underdog heading into a fight with the ex-Disney actor, who only took up boxing in 2020.

It remains to be seen if he can get by someone like Paul, never mind four of the best boxers currently competing.
