Jon Jones recalls his biggest bust-up with Dana White: ‘He just didn’t see the logic’

Jon Jones and Dana White have butted heads throughout their 16-year working relationship.

The two-weight UFC champion has established himself as the best fighter ever over the years.

However, Jon Jones has also been stripped of his title three times by the UFC CEO during that time.

‘Bones’ has been a general headache for Dana White, who has been by his side through drug bans and a litany of personal problems – but he was truly infuriated by something Jones did in September 2012.

Jon Jones reveals biggest Dana White bust-up

UFC 151 was historic for all the wrong reasons as it became the first event Dana White had to cancel.

Jon Jones was supposed to defend his light heavyweight title against Dan Henderson in the main event.

On eight days’ notice, it was announced Henderson had fallen off the card with an MCL injury.

Chael Sonnen was ready to step in, but Jones and his team refused to take a short-notice fight.

As a result, UFC 151 was called off, and White was left angrier than ever at the MMA megastar.

“UFC 151, me refusing to fight Chael Sonnen,” Jones said when asked about his biggest bust-up with White.

“Man, he just didn’t see the logic in it.

“When you’re not the one in there creating the art, then it’s easy to say how it is to create the art.

“I respect the process, and I have to show respect in the way that I do things.

“Yeah, that p—ed him off though.”

Jon Jones provides retirement update

In the same interview, Jon Jones provided an update about his fighting future amid retirement rumors.

The 37-year-old admitted a fight with Tom Aspinall doesn’t interest him, while trying to breathe life into a potential clash with Francis Ngannou.

Ultimately, he shied away from using the word retirement, but did suggest he’s taking a break from MMA.

“Right now, I could really care less about fighting,” Jones said.

“I’ve been doing it my whole life at a really high level.

“When the itch comes back, and if it comes back, then I’ll do it with my whole heart and to the best of my abilities.”
