Ignacio Bahamondes made Dana White scream expletives with ‘KO of the Year’ contender to earn UFC contract

Ignacio Bahamondes introduced himself to Dana White with a typically epic knockout.

The Chilean famously got his first UFC win with a last-gasp spinning kick KO in August 2021.

Two fights earlier, he was competing for his UFC contract on Dana White‘s Contender Series.

Gomez gave as good as he got in a first-round striking battle with the 6ft 3in lightweight.

However, Bahamondes made his size tell before closing the show with a one-shot KO in round two.

The 27-year-old contender flicked out a front kick that caught his unlucky opponent clean on the jaw.

Gomez collapsed to the floor, where he remained unconscious while Bahamondes began to celebrate

Dana White’s stunned reaction to Bahamondes’s finish was caught by the UFC cameras.

The UFC boss was seen putting his hands to his head and screaming about the ‘KO of the Year’ contender.

“Oh my God,” White shouted.

He added: “Oh, holy s—!”

What’s next for Ignacio Bahamondes?

Ignacio Bahamondes retired 29-year-old Jalin Turner with a submission win at UFC 313 in March.

A career-best performance has earned ‘La Jaula’ the chance to co-main event at UFC Baku.

He’ll square off against long-time contender Rafael Fiziev when MMA’s premier promotion hosts an event in Azerbaijan for the first time on Saturday night.

A win over the #11-ranked lightweight would propel unranked Bahamondes into the top 15.

Once there, he’d only be a win or two away from challenging the pound-for-pound king Islam Makhachev, so the stakes really couldn’t be any higher heading into Bahamondes’ biggest fight to date.
