Conor McGregor’s history-making teammate reportedly cut from the UFC for a second time after devastating knockout loss

A history-making fighter has seemingly had his second run in the UFC come to an end.

UFC 315 delivered some big performances last month with Jack Della Maddalena dethroning Belal Muhammad in the main event to become the welterweight champion.

Earlier on in the night, there was a remarkable one-punch knockout in Montreal which kicked off the card in style, even if it didn’t earn a performance of the night bonus.

Bekzat Almakhan sent a message to the bantamweight division after he successfully bounced back from a debut loss to Umar Nurmagomedov.

Almakhan stopped McGregor’s teammate in style, leading to their UFC careers going in opposite directions now that the exciting contender’s opponent looks to have departed the roster.

Two-time ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ winner Brad Katona reportedly removed from the UFC roster

Brad Katona has reportedly departed the UFC roster following his knockout loss to Bekzat Almakhan at UFC 315 last month.

Katona first emerged on UFC fans’ radars when he competed on and won season 27 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter‘, beating Kyler Phillips, Bryce Mitchell and Jay Cucciniello to remain undefeated.

His first run in the promotion ended after back-to-back losses to Merab Dvalishvili and Hunter Azure but a four-fight win streak in BRAVE CF saw him return to The Ultimate Fighter for season 31.

With the season pitting UFC veterans against newcomers, Katona once again emerged victorious, making history as the first fighter to win the series twice.

He beat Cody Gibson in the finals before going 1-3 inside the Octagon, which has now led to his second exit from the MMA leader.

Several social media pages, including UFCRosterWatch and FullContactMTWF on X, reported the news.

Brad Katona acknowledged ahead of UFC 315 that he needed to do more to win close fights

At UFC 315, Bekzat Almakhan became the first man to finish Brad Katona, who went to a decision in every one of his UFC fights before this.

Katona found himself in a lot of back-and-forth fights where despite him having success and displaying a lot of heart, he was unable to get his hand raised.

He made reference to this in a fight week interview with UFC.com ahead of his matchup in Montreal last month.

“We have a lot of success when we go, we just need to go more and make the more of it. So that’s been really everything we’ve been doing in this camp is just bringing it to, not to sound corny, but the next level. It’s just exaggerating all these moments. Every fight I’m hurting my opponents, I’m causing damage. We’re just not getting that last little bit to get them out of there.”

Katona’s style was very effective in a tournament system like The Ultimate Fighter, which would seemingly make the PFL an ideal fit for him if he ends up signing with the promotion.
