Rico Verhoeven dominates last kickboxer to beat Alex Pereira as he cements GOAT status at Glory 100

Rico Verhoeven stretched his legendary win streak to 26 in a row on Saturday night.

The dominant heavyweight champion squared off against Artem Vakhitov in the Glory 100 main event.

MMA fans will know Vakhitov as the last kickboxer to beat Alex Pereira before his move to the UFC.

The 34-year-old was no match for Rico Verhoeven when they clashed at the Rotterdam Ahoy, in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Rico Verhoeven continues to dominate heavyweight kickboxing

Artem Vakhitov has had just one fight since he essentially retired Alex Pereira in September 2021.

The Russian was coming off more than two years on the kickboxing sidelines at Glory 100.

After going 3-1 in MMA and rejecting an offer to join the UFC, Vakhitov returned to his first sport.

However, ring rust and a massive size disadvantage were too much to overcome against Verhoeven.

The man widely regarded as kickboxing’s greatest-ever fighter dominated over five rounds.

All three judges scored the fight 50-45 in Verhoeven’s favor as he defended his heavyweight title for the 13th time.

Rico Verhoeven had nothing but praise for his opponent following his latest victory.

“That was like a cherry on the cake,” he said of winning five rounds on every scorecard.

“I knew this guy was amazing, also technically, conditionally, so I knew this was gonna be a huge challenge.

“Sorry guys if it wasn’t the fight you hoped for or you expected, but this was a chess match on the highest level.

“This guy is so freaking good, it’s so hard. He goes downstairs, upstairs, to the body, to the head, so it’s so freaking hard, but believe me, this guy is going to be the next light heavyweight champion again, 100 percent.”
