Since retiring from MMA in 2020, the former UFC lightweight champion has become one of the best trainers in the sport.

23-0 featherweight Movlid Khaybulaev is one of the best fighters currently training at the Dagestani gym named after the UFC legend’s late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov.

Khabib Nurmagomedov reacts to another PFL final
Movlid Khaybulaev won the $1 million PFL featherweight tournament in October 2021.
Since then, he’s kept his perfect record intact, despite being plagued by inactivity in recent years.
In April, Khaybulaev returned from almost two years on the sidelines to edge out Jeremy Kennedy by a split decision in the 145lb quarter-final.
‘Killer’ won every round as he breezed through a semi-final fight with Kim Tae-kyun on Thursday.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s reaction to the win shows just how high the standards are at his gym.
“Another final. Only forward,” he wrote in Russian alongside a picture of Khaybulaev getting his hand raised at PFL 5.
Will Khabib Nurmagomedov ever fight again?
While fans enjoy the fact that Nurmagomedov is still visible in MMA, many want to see him fight again.
In 2024, comeback rumors got so intense that Nurmagomedov issued a statement on his future.
“There is no chance, none. Not even 1%, minus [chance],” the 29-0 icon insisted
“If you guys need champions, I’m helping my brothers to become champions… We have Islam [Makhachev] as a champion, we have Umar [Nurmagomedov] as the next contender, we have Usman [Nurmagomedov] as champion – we have a lot of champions.
“You guys are never going to miss me because in our team and our gym, we create champions – you guys are always going to have champions, don’t worry.”
