Conor McGregor accused of ‘career spiral’ by Mike Perry as he insists BKFC ‘firing’ was never serious

Mike Perry is keeping himself on the straight and narrow in an effort to maximize his career opportunities and avoid a ‘career spiral’ like Conor McGregor.

Perry and McGregor have a love-hate relationship, with the Irishman recently demanding he ‘come home’ following a lengthy absence. This was despite ‘firing’ Perry when he lost to Jake Paul in a boxing match last year.

Now, ‘Platinum’ is looking to make a return to action, but is also focusing on his promotional work with Dirty Boxing Championship. DBX’s second full event takes place at the Hangar Miami tomorrow night; Friday June 14. Tickets are available here and fans can watch live on YouTube here.

Mike Perry insists he ‘still has a job’ at BKFC after amid Conor McGregor’s ‘spiral’

Conor McGregor hasn’t competed in over four years, and has since become more notorious for his partying. Mike Perry, on the other hand, has spent the last few years building himself into a marketable star far beyond what would have been thought possible in the UFC.

“I definitely still have my job,” Perry laughed before launching into a sarcastic diatribe about his rival’s career. “He did a great movie. He’s touched a lot of bases in business and he’s been all over the place even getting over Cristiano Ronaldo on the Forbes list.

“You can’t argue with that and the guy has done incredible things. It was all his build-up in his early UFC days that got him to this point. I had an incredible build-up and I’m having lots of opportunities.

“I’m trying to stay on track and focused. When my opportunities come, I’m staying ready for them. I stay focused so as not to have the same spiral he had in his career. I’m sure he’s working on the right side of things and trying to build himself back up.”

Mike Perry would be open to Conor McGregor fight if it became possible

Perry and McGregor did face off back in 2023 after his win over Eddie Alvarez, but of course the fight couldn’t materialize. The Irishman is locked into the UFC’s most lucrative contract, and is unable to take fights elsewhere.

“We might not ever see him fight again but he says he wants to,” Perry explained. “He’s still owned by the UFC but he’s working and promoting BKFC. An incredible matchup is for me and Conor to fight in BKFC, maybe some day he can get some practice in the ring.

“Otherwise he doesn’t get any practice and he thinks he can fight me in bare knuckle without having ever been in there. Right now, those things aren’t happening but I’m looking forward to it and excited about it. Until then, I’m focused on Dirty Boxing on June 14 in Miami.”
