‘Me and Trump feel the same way’… Kevin Holland reveals what he said to the US President at UFC 316

Kevin Holland had an unexpected conversation with the President of the United States Donald Trump seconds after his UFC 316 victory.

Trump was in attendance at UFC 316 inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on Saturday night, marking his latest appearance at a UFC pay-per-view.

The president witnessed a number of standout performances on the UFC 316 main card, the first of which saw Holland submit Vicente Luque in impressive fashion.

‘Trailblazer’ had a similar result in front of Trump at the same venue 12 months ago, and like on that occasion, the Texas native once again jumped over the Octagon to interact with the president.

After a gruesome armbar submission against Michal Oleksiejczuk at UFC 302, Holland shook hands with Trump and apologized to the politician for previously ignoring him after exiting the cage following a victory.

Second time around, Holland seemingly had his political talking points prepared.

During a backstage interview with Full Send MMA, Holland acknowledged his habit of performing well in front of Trump in Newark, and revealed that he’d spoken to the president about taxes.

“Something about the Prudential Center with the President inside of it,” Holland said.

“Man, this year I just told him, I said, ‘Man, I love it when you’re president, bro, I get a bigger tax break.’ And he was like, ‘You know how we do.’

“He knows how we feel about taxes. Me and Donald Trump feel the same way about taxes. Hate paying that s—t.”

Kevin Holland wants to fight one of Donald Trump’s favorite fighters next

Trump could have a close eye on things should Holland get his opponent wish granted.

While speaking to Joe Rogan inside the cage at UFC 316, Holland called out former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington, who has long known and supported the president.

“Colby Covington, you’re the worst guy in the welterweight division,” Holland stated. “I like beating up on sorry people. Luque was a tough fight, Colby would be an easy one.”

Many have suggested that Covington’s stock has taken a hit in the eyes of Trump after his recent results.

The 78-year-old was present for Covington’s latest title shot, when he fell short in a lackluster performance against Leon Edwards in December 2023. The president made a swift exit from the arena.

More recently, Covington placed blame on Trump’s election campaign for distracting him in the lead-up to a brutal setback against Joaquin Buckley in Tampa last December.
