Waldo Cortes-Acosta suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction during his UFC 316 fight against Serghei Spivac at UFC 316.
The UFC returned to Newark, New Jersey this Saturday for UFC 316 as Sean O’Malley looked for redemption against Merab Dvalishvili in the main event.
The women’s bantamweight title was also on the line in the co-main event as Julianna Pena finally met Kayla Harrison inside the UFC Octagon.
However, it was a heavyweight fight on the prelims which caught many fans’ attention because of an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction mid-fight.

Waldo Cortes-Acosta changes shorts mid-fight after malfunction
After racking up four impressive wins under the UFC banner, Waldo Cortes-Acosta was matched up with highly ranked heavyweight contender, Serghei Spivac on the UFC 316 undercard.
One of Cortes-Acosta’s wins came against the formerly impressive Robelis Despaigne, however, Dana White wasn’t happy with his performance due to him not looking to finish the fight.
Coming into his fight against ‘The Polar Bear’, the Dominican was likely looking to put on a more impressive performance, hoping to continue rising up the heavyweight ranks.
Despite that, the first two rounds between ‘Salsa Boy’ and Spivac were extremely passive outside of a few big punches landed, with not much to separate them.
And in the interval between rounds two and three, Cortes-Acosta suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction which left him standing in the corner of the Octagon with just his briefs on.
Shortly after, his team brought a new pair of shorts into the cage for him to change into, which garnered a hilarious reaction from Joe Rogan after Cortes-Acosta decided to rip down the sides of his new shorts.
“Changing your pants in the middle of the Octagon, look at that,” Daniel Cormier said.
“He’s just ripped them himself,” Rogan laughed as Cortes-Acosta ripped the edges.
Daniel Cormier questions the judges’ decision
The Dominican went on to score his fifth win in a row and potentially the biggest win of his career thus far, likely making his way into the top 10 of the division.
Despite that, Cormier questioned the scorecards following the fight after one of the judges scored the fight 30-27 in favor of ‘Salsa Boy’.
“Yeah, round one he could’ve won and round three he could’ve won honestly… We’ve come to see this time and time again now, sometimes the judges just don’t see it like we do,” Cormier criticized.
