‘Relentless’… Dustin Poirier reacts to his teammate’s dominant performance at UFC Vegas 107

One of Dustin Poirier’s most prominent training partners was among the biggest winners at UFC Vegas 107.

Saturday’s card at the Apex was largely forgettable, and it ended in disastrous fashion when Maycee Barber’s medical issue canceled the main event.

But a number of notable names were still able to put in impressive performances, from former Paddy Pimblett opponent Jordan Leavitt’s submission to ex-Alex Pereira rival Dustin Jacoby’s knockout.

And closing out the night unexpectedly amid Barber’s struggle was a teammate of Poirier’s, who achieved a lopsided victory to keep his name in lightweight contention.

Dustin Poirier not surprised by Mateusz Gamrot’s UFC Vegas 107 dominance

The UFC Vegas 107 co-main event pitted top 10 lightweight Mateusz Gamrot against a surging name from outside the rankings in Ludovit Klein.

That clash of Poland and Slovenia went the way of the former, and it wasn’t exactly close.

‘Gamer’ utilized his grappling pace and pressure to largely control Klein throughout their three-round contest, collecting unanimous 30-27 scorecards as a result.

Watching on was Poirier, Gamrot’s American Top Team stablemate. Having faced the Polish fighter’s skills first-hand, ‘The Diamond’ wasn’t surprised to see the dominance on display at the Apex.

“Gamer doing what he does best! Relentless pressure!” Poirier wrote on X.

Mateusz Gamrot will likely aid in Dustin Poirier’s final UFC fight camp

With his assignment successfully completed, Gamrot could be turning his attention to his teammate.

Poirier will face Max Holloway at UFC 318 in what will mark the Louisianan’s final fight in mixed martial arts.

‘The Diamond’ came to the decision for one last farewell soon after his third failed shot at the undisputed title against Islam Makhachev in June 2024.

And the veteran fan favorite has gotten his wish for that to come close to home, as the Holloway vs Poirier trilogy will headline at New Orleans’ Smoothie King Center.

Among a number of other top names, Gamrot will likely be putting in the work with Poirier in Coconut Creek to ensure a winning conclusion to the lightweight legend’s UFC career.
