Alex Pereira’s former kickboxing foe demolishes UFC Vegas 107 rival with shocking first-round knockout

UFC light heavyweight Dustin Jacoby dropped jaws at the Apex with a horrific KO at UFC Vegas 107.

Dustin Jacoby earned a victory that likely made his former GLORY Kickboxing rival, former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, immensely proud.

The 37-year-old Jacoby, who entered UFC Vegas 107 off of losses in three of his last five fights, faced a dangerous up-and-coming star in Brazil’s Bruno Lopes. The fight snapped a streak of fights that went the full distance during UFC Vegas 107, and treated fans to a brutal highlight-reel finish.

Fighting with a lot to gain, Jacoby wasted little time imposing his will on Lopes and earning one of the wildest knockouts of the year.

Dustin Jacoby proves age is just a number with horrific KO at UFC Vegas 107

Jacoby quickly landed several heavy leg kicks that visibly stifled Lopes in the center of the Octagon. Once Jacoby found his timing on the feet, he threw several blistering elbows that landed flush to Lopes’s face, quickly stunning the talented light heavyweight.

As Jacoby pressed Lopes against the cage in a clinch, he blitzed Lopes with brutal 1-2 combinations that overwhelmed his opponent. Just under two minutes into the fight, Jacoby closed the show with a brutal left hook to Lopes’s jaw that knocked him out cold.

Jacoby entered UFC Vegas 107 off of a third-round knockout over Vitor Petrino in December. Before that, he lost back-to-back fights to former title challenger Dominick Reyes and Alonzo Menifield to fall out of the Top 15.

But after his miraculous win at UFC Vegas 107, Jacoby is right back in the mix at 205 lbs, and could make another big push towards title contention.

UFC Vegas 107 delivered despite several fight week hiccups

Jacoby’s knockout added to what was an intriguing night of fights at UFC Vegas 107, despite several fight week incidents leading up to the event. UFC flyweight headliner Maycee Barber missed weight for the first time in her UFC career on Friday by 1.5 pounds, forfeiting a percentage of her purse to Erin Blanchfield.

A welterweight matchup between Trevin Giles and Andreas Gustafsson was called off after Giles suffered a head injury during his weight cut. Gustafsson was originally supposed to face Jeremiah Wells at UFC Vegas 107 before Wells withdrew due to injury.

Flyweight Allan Nascimento and bantamweight Ketlen Vieira also missed weight ahead of their fights.

Jacoby fell to Pereira during their professional kickboxing careers at Glory 14 by first-round knockout. Pereira is expected to return later this year in a rematch against UFC light heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev.
