Tom Aspinall shares cryptic message after teasing imminent update on Jon Jones UFC unification fight

Tom Aspinall continues to drop subtle hints about his next UFC fight.

The interim heavyweight champion hasn’t fought since knocking out Curtis Blaydes in 60 seconds at UFC 304 last July.

Since then, Tom Aspinall has been chasing a unification fight with the other UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones.

The greatest fighter in MMA history has hesitated to accept the fight, but some form of resolution is believed to be imminent.

Tom Aspinall shares cryptic social media post

On Monday, Tom Aspinall teased ‘heavyweight news’ amid a 500+ day wait for Jon Jones.

The 31-year-old posted a six-second promo with the date: “28.05.2025”

“Heavyweight news. Coming soon,” Aspinall wrote on social media.

A day later, the heavy-handed Englishman shared a cryptic quote to his Instagram story.

It read: “What a blessing to be tired in the pursuit of a challenge of your own choosing.”

Fans don’t have a clue what Aspinall is hinting at, but they won’t have to wait long to find out what he’s on about.

In the next 24 hours, there should be a massive update on when, where, and who Aspinall will fight next.

Who else could Tom Aspinall face next?

If Jon Jones opts against the matchup, there aren’t a ton of potential opponents for Tom Aspinall

UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently expressed his concern about the ‘shallow’ heavyweight division, which is worryingly devoid of stars and genuine title contenders.

Ciryl Gane is the biggest name available should the UFC need someone to stand in for ‘Bones’.

‘Bon Gamin’ is also the only fighter in the top five Aspinall hasn’t already fought and beaten.

If Jones vs Aspinall isn’t announced on Wednesday, expect Gane to get a heavyweight title shot.
