On his way to becoming the UFC bantamweight champion, Merab Dvalishvili utterly dominated one of the greatest wrestlers in UFC history.
At UFC 316 on June 7, Merab Dvalishvili looks to make the second defense of his bantamweight title reign when he takes on Sean O’Malley in a huge rematch.
Dvalishvili worried fans recently when he took to social media to show fans images of a broken toe he suffered during his fight camp.
Fortunately, though, his injury isn’t believed to be a fight-threatening one because of his eagerness to once again defend his title.
On his way to becoming the UFC bantamweight champion, the Georgian’s most impressive win came against former UFC double champion Henry Cejudo at UFC 298.

Dvalishvili carried Cejudo across the cage to talk to Mark Zuckerberg mid-fight
After accumulating an impressive nine fight win streak, ‘The Machine’ was matched up with former bantamweight and flyweight champion, Cejudo, at UFC 298.
Dvalishvili has always split the UFC fanbase with their opinions of him because of his wrestling heavy fight style. However, his dominant performance over ‘Triple C’ won over a lot of fans.
One of whom was American businessman Mark Zuckerberg, who was in attendance for the event and was even in Alexander Volkanovski‘s corner for his title fight against Ilia Topuria.
The Georgian had to overcome adversity early on in the fight as he was buzzed by Cejudo and subsequently wobbled, but managed to quickly recover and began to dominate with his wrestling.
And in round three, Dvalishvili began to showboat when he picked Cejudo up and carried him to the opposite side of the Octagon to talk to Zuckerberg mid-beating.
Sean O’Malley has drafted in consensus GOAT to help with UFC 316 camp
After ‘Suga’ Sean also suffered some embarrassing moments against Dvalishvili in their first meeting, he is looking to put those moments behind him and reclaim his 135lb title on June 7.
In an attempt to change the outcome of the fight, O’Malley has drafted in the help of the consensus greatest fighter of all time, Demetrious Johnson, to help with his fight camp.
As well as being known for one of the best fight IQs in the sport’s history, Johnson was also known to have a tremendous clinch game, which could be a pivotal area of O’Malley’s matchup against Merab.
