‘Shut your mouth’… Jon Jones belittles Tom Aspinall after interim champion says he no longer cares about fighting him

Jon Jones has hit out at his heavyweight rival as frustrations only continue to grow.

A lot of people are growing tired of the delay surrounding a potential fight between Jones and Tom Aspinall to unify the heavyweight titles.

Jones recently claimed that he has already told the UFC what his plans are several months ago and he’s confused as to why they haven’t made them public.

A petition to strip Jones of the belt has received a lot of attention with fans making their voices heard that they want to move on from ‘Bones’ title reign.

The interim champion has expressed similar sentiments with Aspinall opening up about how difficult this process has been for him as he continues to sit on the sidelines.

Jon Jones lashes out at Tom Aspinall following interim champion’s recent comments

Jon Jones has responded on social media to a post that highlighted some recent comments from Tom Aspinall in regards to their potential title unification clash.

The interim champion recently appeared on Demetrious Johnson’s podcast where he said that his ultimate goal is no longer focused around beating ‘Bones’.

Aspinall made it clear in his post-fight interview at UFC 304 that he doesn’t hold anything personal against Jones, he simply wanted to test himself against the consensus greatest of all time.

With this looking unlikely, the Brit is now solely focused on becoming the undisputed champion, regardless of Jones’ next steps, having broken records during his interim title reign.

The current heavyweight champion clearly didn’t take too kindly to Aspinall wanting to move on from this ongoing saga as he lashed out at his rival with a reply to the post.

Jones belittled the interim champion for claiming that he’s tired of waiting around for a fight that is still up in the air.

“Shut your mouth and do as you’re told.”

Jon Jones confused fans with his recent comments on retirement

During his recent series of replies on social media, Jon Jones looked to clarify his current status.

Ultimately, he only made things more confusing by seemingly stating that he’s currently taking a break from fighting but he isn’t officially retired at this moment.

“I don’t know if I wanna call it retired, I feel like I’ll always have an ability to pop out and show em. I’ve had many breaks throughout my career, my identity outside of fighting is well intact. I’m genuinely enjoying life, I’m growing in different ways.”

The reaction from the fans on social media pointed to the fact that if Jones doesn’t intend on completely retiring or staying active, he should relinquish the title either way to allow Aspinall and the rest of the division to move on.
