‘I’ve never felt anything like it’… Alex Pereira rival reveals what it’s really like to take a punch off the UFC legend

A former Alex Pereira opponent has opened up about the formidable power the ex-UFC champion has in his hands.

In his esteemed career, the Brazilian has proven himself as one of the most ferocious punchers on the planet, rendering unconscious anybody his trademark left hook lands on.

Pereira even had the UFC’s PowerKube punch record until Eddie Hall broke it, and has knocked out the likes of Israel Adesanya and Jamahal Hill.

However, while MMA fans have enjoyed watching him showcase his dynamite hands over the last few years, he dazzled in Glory kickboxing long before he ever entered the octagon.

Dustin Jacoby says he’s never felt anything like Alex Pereira’s power

On March 8, 2014, Dustin Jacoby took on Alex Pereira at Glory 14: Zagreb.

In just two minutes, the American was brutally knocked out by his rival’s famous punch.

Reflecting on the icon’s punching power during an interview with Inside Fighting, the striker said: “He’s super fast, he’s a lot faster than it appears. He just has this aura about him, the physical presence. The guy is a warrior; he’s in there to fight.

“The power is ungodly, I’ve never felt anything like it. He hits so well.

“When we fought, I was young in my career as well; I made the mistake. He actually caught me with a right hand, 30 seconds into the fight. It definitely rocked me, but I was still present.

“Where I made a downfall is he just put full attack mode on me and and I tried going attack mode back and keeping up with him, instead of letting the fight slow down a little bit, recover, let him kind of gas himself out, do a little bit of wearing down on him.”

Dustin Jacoby suffered horrendous injury before latest UFC victory

While Jacoby couldn’t recover quickly enough to continue his bout with Pereira, he’s no stranger to overcoming adversity.

At UFC: Tampa back in December, the warrior knocked out Vitor Petrino in an impressive performance.

However, prior to the contest, he had to deal with a massive problem.

Following his victory, Jacoby discussed the appalling injury he suffered before the fight.
