Fan-favorite shockingly leaves UFC after 30 fights and almost 15 years in the Octagon

One of the most exciting fighters in the featherweight division looks to have left the UFC.

Alex Caceres is a longtime UFC featherweight as well as a former headliner who’s been fighting in the Octagon since 2010.

An alumnus of ‘The Ultimate Fighter 12’, Caceres has been on the UFC roster for 14 years where he has fought names like Urijah Faber, Yair Rodriguez, Sergio Pettis, and Giga Chikadze.

As of this writing, the former ranked contender is still on the active UFC roster which makes news of Caceres’ next fight all the more surprising.

Alex Caceres books post-UFC fight at Dirty Boxing Championship

On Monday, it was announced Caceres would be fighting ex-UFC fighter Saidyokub Kakhramonov not inside the Octagon but instead at Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing Championship on June 14th in Miami, Florida.

Dirty Boxing is a new hybrid of combat sports, blending MMA and boxing with four-ounce gloves. Fighters can punch, slap, elbow and even land ground and pound on their opponents.

The featherweight bout between Caceres and Kakhramonov is set to co-headline DBX 2 with former UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the main event against Devon Schwan.

While Caceres’ name has yet to be removed from the active UFC roster, this booking more than likely marks the end of his 30-fight UFC career.

DBX did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Caceres’ UFC release.

Alex Caceres racked up 8 performance bonuses in UFC run

Caceres leaves the UFC on a two-fight losing skid, coming up short in decisions against Giga Chikadze in 2023 and Sean Woodson around this time last year.

‘Bruce Leeroy’ has a winning record of 16-13 (1 NC) in the Octagon and earned $400,000 with eight performance bonuses across his UFC tenure.

Caceres took former interim champion Yair Rodriguez to a split decision in their first main event spot in 2016 where both men received ‘fight of the night’ honors.

The fan-favorite once went on a five-fight win streak in the featherweight division where he defeated the likes of Chase Hooper, Kevin Croom, and Steven Peterson to become ranked in the top-15.

One of Caceres’ best performances came in 2014 where he submitted former Bellator champion Sergio Pettis in an all-action fight that earned Caceres $100,000 in post-fight bonuses.
