Joe Rogan was stunned when Dustin Poirier nearly defeated Khabib Nurmagomedov

At UFC 242, on September 7, 2019, Dustin Poirier challenged Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight world championship.

For the most part, the pound-for-pound great dominated ‘The Diamond’. During portions of the fight, Khabib was even talking to Poirier before eventually making him tap in the third round.

However, the American definitely had his moments, wobbling the wrestler with a massive punch and locking in a submission that rendered Joe Rogan stunned.

Poirier joined the popular broadcaster on an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, where they discussed the contest.

The pundit said: “For my money, that guillotine you got Khabib in is the closest he’s ever come to being caught.

He then asked his guest: “Is that the moment in the fight that still f—- with you?

Poirier replied: “I just know how close it was.”
