Georges St-Pierre watched on while his teammate retired a legend of the sport at UFC 315.
A Tristar-trained bantamweight was among the standout performers at Saturday’s pay-per-view event in Montreal, as Aiemann Zahabi defeated Jose Aldo in the biggest win of his career to date.
The three-round contest was a close affair, and early success for the Brazilian legend in round three looked to set him up for a second win since returning from retirement.
But after Aldo was unable to capitalize on hurting Zahabi, the home fighter established dominant control on the ground.
And with the help of a prominent teammate in St-Pierre, the Canadian certainly made the most of the position.

Aiemann Zahabi shares clip of Georges St-Pierre urging him to smash Jose Aldo with elbows
Days after a victory that has left him just one spot outside of the bantamweight top 10, Zahabi shared footage of St-Pierre’s corner work on X.
St-Pierre evidently got into the spirit of things as he threw fake elbows in the corner, demonstrating how his fellow Canadian could finish the fight strongly.
“Fans were ROARING so loud I couldn’t hear my corner, so they showed me the way!” Zahabi wrote in the caption.
“Grateful for my two incredible men in my corner!”
Jose Aldo retired after losing to Aiemann Zahabi at UFC 315
St-Pierre’s advice aided Zahabi in notching his sixth straight win in the UFC. For Aldo, it seemingly contributed to his last hurrah.
Having fallen to a 1-2 record across the three fights in his comeback stint, Aldo suggested that another retirement lies in his future while speaking to Daniel Cormier inside the cage at UFC 315.
“I don’t think I have it in me anymore,” Aldo said through an interpreter.
“This was a very tough week that I felt that I didn’t have it in me.”
Fight week proved to be difficult for the legendary featherweight. Aldo’s weight struggles resulted in the bout with Zahabi being moved up 10 pounds on weigh-in day.
Having already returned to the cage following one retirement, though, it remains to be seen whether Aldo’s latest claim of hanging up the gloves will stick.
