Dana White’s long-awaited foray into boxing looks to finally be kicking into gear in a big way.
Earlier this month, it was announced that TKO Boxing will launch with Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford taking place on September 12 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium.
An update on this super fight has left it unclear whether this is still the plan with Alvarez vs Crawford now clashing with UFC 320 on September 13.
Along with a change of location, Turki Alalshikh told Ring Magazine that the event will be a Riyadh Season PPV event with New York and Los Angeles being potential destinations along with Las Vegas.
Regardless of the current questions regarding the details of the fight, this move still earned the UFC president some props from ‘The Problem Child’ despite Jake Paul’s public beef with White in the past.
Jake Paul gives Dana White credit for promoting Canelo vs Crawford without funding it
In a social media post, Jake Paul tipped his hat to Dana White for seemingly putting himself in a position where he can promote one of the biggest fights of the year without funding it.
The UFC president had previously stated that his team would be running everything for the Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford super fight, just like they do with each UFC event.
It was already a lot to take on but that became a much bigger issue once the date was moved, meaning that it will go ahead on the same night at the MMA leader’s return to Mexico for Noche UFC.
In what could end up being one of the most important weekends of White’s entire career, he may end up promoting two huge combat sports events on the very same day.
‘The Problem Child’ wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that as a promoter himself, he has to give credit where it’s due for White’s recent moves into the world of boxing where he’s jumping right in at the deep end.
“Dana White is the promoter for Canelo Crawford & he doesn’t have to put up 1 $. Fair play Dana. Fair play.”
What’s next for Jake Paul?
Following his win over Mike Tyson last November, Jake Paul is set to return to the ring on June 28 where he will face the son of a boxing legend.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has 62 pro fights under his belt having faced the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs as a former WBC middleweight champion.
At 39 years old, his recent career has seen him take on former MMA stars like Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall, having been scheduled to face Darren Till on the undercard of Paul vs Tyson until the fight was postponed.
They’re set to meet in the ring on June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The card is also set to feature former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm who makes her return to boxing against Yolanda Vega.
