Daniel Cormier will always be remembered for being a part of perhaps the greatest rivalry in UFC history.
‘DC’ fought Jon Jones on two occasions for the light heavyweight title but their careers have been linked together far more than any regular former opponents.
Following their success at 205 pounds, both men successfully moved up to the heavyweight division with ‘Bones’ currently being the division’s champion.
Cormier was baffled to see Jones’ recent comments about how he believes that he would’ve been even more dominant against his rival at heavyweight.
It’s clear that the UFC commentator has no interest in engaging in a back-and-forth with Cormier turning down the opportunity to coach against Jones on a reality TV show.

Daniel Cormier says Jon Jones should focus on the present and fight Tom Aspinall
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Daniel Cormier spoke more about Jon Jones’ recent comments about how a fight between them would’ve gone at heavyweight.
‘DC’ retired in August of 2020 following the conclusion of his trilogy with Stipe Miocic where he lost back-to-back fights.
That same month, Jones announced that he would be vacating the light heavyweight title in order to take some time off and prepare for a move to heavyweight.
Cormier believes that ‘Bones’ needs to focus on what is in front of him rather than what could have happened in the past if different circumstances had played out.

Fans have been critical of Jones during the ongoing saga with interim champion Tom Aspinall who has grown tired of waiting for the title unification clash to happen.
Cormier’s simple suggestion to his former rival was that if he really wants to prove a point about how good he is at heavyweight, he should go and fight the guy who believes he’s better.
“Talking about what you would’ve done to me seven years ago, five years ago when I retired. How about this? I’ve got a novel idea for you. I’m retired. I’m done. I’m 46. I’m washed up. I’m a broadcaster. I’m a commentator. I am a talking head. How about this novel idea? Fight the dude that’s actually wanting to fight.
“I don’t want to fight Jon Jones. I have no desire to fight anyone. But, how about fight the dude that’s actually waiting to fight you, Tom Aspinall. It’s not about what may have happened back then. We wanna know as the consumer what’s gonna happen today.”
The fans are on the same page as Daniel Cormier for the most part
It isn’t just Daniel Cormier who wants to see Jon Jones look in front of him rather than reflecting on the past.
Under any Jones related post on social media, the comments are filled with people calling for him to fight Tom Aspinall or sharing GIFs of the interim heavyweight champion.
‘Bones’ even looked to get ahead of this on a recent seminar announcement where he made reference to the criticisms by stating that he’s doing, “everything but fighting”.
Jones had even stated several years ago, when both men were active, that he wouldn’t fight Cormier at heavyweight because he’d be giving up too much of an advantage.
