Paddy Pimblett liked what he saw from one standout performer at Saturday’s UFC 315 pay-per-view.
Pimblett is just over a month on from his latest triumph inside the cage — an emphatic second-round TKO win over former Bellator champion Michael Chandler at UFC 314.
In their co-main event clash, Pimblett brutalized Chandler with ground strikes to force the referee’s intervention and pave the way for his climb up the UFC lightweight ladder.
As it turns out, though, the Liverpool native had visions of finishing ‘Iron Mike’ with a specific strike on the feet — one which was on full display at UFC 315 on May 10.
Pimblett trained the same move for Michael Chandler that Bekzat Almakhan used to win the UFC 315 opener
Following the events that unfolded in Montreal for the UFC’s latest pay-per-view, Pimblett posted a video of his live reactions on YouTube.
Before taking in Valentina Shevchenko’s successful co-headlining defense against Manon Fiorot and Jack Della Maddalena’s title win over Belal Muhammad in the main event, ‘The Baddy’ reacted to the top highlight from the undercard.
The night began with a brutal finish courtesy of Bekzat Almakhan, who stopped Brad Katona — a longtime teammate of Conor McGregor’s at SBG Ireland — with a vicious uppercut.
Pimblett remarked that the move was one he had looked to utilize when sharing the cage with Chandler in Miami.
“Sleep, kid. That was lovely,” Pimblett said. “That uppercut right up the middle put him down. That’s what I was planning on doing to Chandler. Right on the chin and he’s out. Lovely punch that, lad, perfect timing.”
Brad Katona achieved historic feat before devastating UFC 315 defeat extended losing run
Much like McGregor, Katona finds himself without many wins in recent times. But regardless of his current form, the Canadian has already etched his name in the history books.
‘Superman’ began his second stint in the UFC with another appearance on The Ultimate Fighter. Katona previously earned a contract by winning TUF 27 in 2018.
After making his way to another final, the 33-year-old emerged victorious from a memorable war with Cody Gibson at UFC 292 in 2023. In doing so, he became the first and only two-time TUF winner.

But the Canadian has fallen on hard times since then, winning just one of his subsequent four appearances in the Octagon and suffering defeat twice on home soil.
Katona will now look ahead to his opportunity to return to winning ways following Saturday’s setback in Montreal.
