Paige VanZant set to make history as Dana White grants her wish for title fight on International Fight Week

Paige VanZant is set to make Power Slap history when she competes for the first female Power Slap title on International Fight Week.

Since leaving the UFC in 2020, Paige VanZant has dipped her toes in several different combat sports ventures, from Misfits Boxing to BKFC, but she has seemingly found her home in Dana White‘s Power Slap.

VanZant recently put back on UFC kit when she cornered her husband, Austin Vanderford in his short notice UFC debut at UFC Seattle, in which he won by TKO and was involved in a post-fight brawl.

’12-Gauge’ was scheduled to compete in a new MMA promotion, GFL, but the promotion canceled their debut events, which included VanZant’s fight.

Paige VanZant set to compete for Power Slap title on International Fight Week

The former UFC star’s last three outings have come in Dana White’s Power Slap, where she has expressed enjoyment in competing.

The 31-year-old won her debut outing against Christine Wolmarans, showing that she had a future in the sport. She then took on wife of UFC legend, John Dodson, Chelsea Dodson a few months later, in which they slapped to a draw.

This past March, though, at Power Slap 12, VanZant picked up her second win in Power Slap, dominating Mikael Michelle Brown on the way to a unanimous decision win.

Following the win, VanZant called for White to give her a title shot, saying: “Hey, Dana (White), where’s that (125lb) belt, baby? Put me on the next card. Let’s get some women’s belts. We’re here to stay. We’re here to knock b—— out and slap people all day.”

And now, White has answered VanZant’s wishes as she will make history by competing for the first ever women’s Power Slap belt when she rematches Michelle Brown on June 27.

The Power Slap event is scheduled to take place just one day before UFC 317 on International Fight Week, in what is set to be a huge event.

International Fight Week set to be a huge week in combat sports

The UFC boss is set to announce the UFC 317 main event imminently, with fans sharing their predictions on who they think will headline the event.

Despite that, White has seemingly taken a noticeable step back from some UFC duties recently as he left fans fuming after no-showing the UFC 315 post-fight press conference this past Saturday.

White now has the UFC, Power Slap, and TKO Boxing to juggle, with this year being a hugely defining year for all of his combat sports products.
