Belal Muhammad’s title loss at UFC 315 has left Jon Jones as the last man standing as a wild stat has surfaced.
On Saturday at UFC 315, Belal Muhammad‘s short reign as the UFC welterweight champion came to an end after a five round war with Jack Della Maddalena.
Muhammad’s performance was widely criticized because of his lack of takedown attempts, and he was ultimately roasted by UFC star Khamzat Chimaev who reveled in his loss.
As if things weren’t already bad enough for ‘Remember The Name’, UFC boss Dana White revealed the injuries he sustained during the fight, including a broken nose, a broken orbital bone, and a split lip from top to bottom.

Jon Jones is now the only current American UFC champion
For a while now, American fighters have been less dominant in the premier promotion, once dominating the sport and holding the majority of the belts.
But now, following Muhammad’s loss at UFC 315, heavyweight champion Jon Jones is the only current American-born champion in the UFC.
Not only that, but when the UFC rankings debuted in 2013, 28 American fighters were ranked in the top five of the male division with five American champions. Now only 13 American fighters are ranked in the top five with just one champion.
The next chance America has of seeing one of their own crowned as a champion is when Sean O’Malley looks to reclaim his bantamweight title against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 316 on June 7.
Tom Aspinall hints title unification news is imminent
At the moment, there is no clear threat to ‘Bones’ losing his UFC heavyweight title, as he continues to delay a title unification fight against Tom Aspinall.
Having said that, Aspinall recently hinted that news is imminent regarding whether he and Jones are going to fight, with him willing to move on to a different fight if Jones isn’t going to return soon.
Jones’ dominance has spanned across many eras in the UFC, and that is why he is widely considered to be the greatest fighter of all time.
