Dana White joked that a regional promotion has better judging and refereeing following UFC 315 controversy

The UFC’s return to the Bell Center in Montreal produced an entertaining night of fights with several important narratives coming out of it.

Despite this, UFC 315 wasn’t without some controversy with one fight in particular being scrutinized by fans and fellow fighters.

Though there were some negative reactions to Jack Della Maddalena’s win in the main event, the majority of the conversation centered around Aiemann Zahabi’s win over Jose Aldo.

Aldo retired in the Octagon after suffering his second consecutive divisive loss via the scorecards with many believing that the legendary former champion should be 3-0 since his return last year.

Dana White has never been afraid to call out judges and referees but he was impressed by what he saw from a new promotion during their second event.

Dana White praised the refereeing and judging at The Korean Zombie’s new MMA promotion

In the latest episode of ‘Lookin’ For a Fight’, Dana White was joined by Matt Serra and Din Thomas as they watched Z Fight Night 2.

The UFC president tuned into the card from the early hours of the morning in Florida after his travel plans for the event were unfortunately called.

Z Fight Night is the new MMA promotion that is run by Chan Sung Jung, ‘The Korean Zombie’, with their December 14 card featuring several fighters that the UFC president was interested in.

In particular, White tuned in for Dorobshokh Nabotov who had earned this opportunity after getting on the mic at the UFC 308 press conference last October where he called his shot.

Nabotov came up short against Matheus Camilo with the referee separating the two men after the Tajikistan fighter tried to hold on to his opponent late on in the fight.

This moment of decisiveness got a big reaction from White who was happy to see the official prioritize action.

“F—— great job by the referee, our f—— referees don’t do that.”

At the end of the fight, White believed that Brazil’s Camilo had done enough to secure the victory having scored more damage than his opponent.

When the right fighter got his arm raised via unanimous decision, White joked that the quality of judging and refereeing in South Korea’s Z Fight Night was already ahead of what you tend to see in the UFC.

“How about their judging and refereeing might be better than f—— ours.”

Daniel Cormier called another decision at UFC 315 ‘trash’

There was another controversial decision at UFC 315 that didn’t end up attracting as much controversy as Jose Aldo’s loss to Aiemann Zahabi.

On the prelims, Modestas Bukauskas defeated Ion Cutelaba via split decision with all three judges having different scorecards.

Pasquale Procopio had Bukauskas winning all three rounds, Jerin Valel had Cutelaba up three with Sal D’Amato having the more logical card of 29-28 in favor of Bukauskas.

“That’s trash. That’s actually a very bad decision,” said Daniel Cormier on commentary in the immediate aftermath of the result.

“30-27 for Bukauskas? I thought Cuțelaba lost round three, but that was the only round I thought he lost.

“I don’t understand how they are watching two different fights.”
