Ian Machado Garry sends Jack Della Maddalena a vicious threat after roasting his UFC 315 title winning performance

Ian Machado Garry was somewhat hopeful that Belal Muhammad would successfully defend his welterweight title against Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315.

On Saturday in the UFC 315 main event in Montreal, Belal Muhammad‘s short reign as the UFC welterweight champion came to an end at the hands of Jack Della Maddalena.

The Australian went on to pick up the unanimous decision win after a five round war in which blood was shed and Muhammad’s lip was split from top to bottom.

Immediately after the fight, Della Maddalena was sent a defiant message by Islam Makhachev, who will now benefit from his teammate, Muhammad, losing the title.

Ian Machado Garry reacts to Della Maddalena’s title win

With Makhachev set to finally move up to welterweight, he will likely be Della Maddalena’s first challenger, after the Australian asked Dana White after the fight.

The Russian’s move up in weight comes at the best time possible as the 170lb division doesn’t have a clear standout contender other than Shavkat Rakhmonov, who is currently recovering from hand surgery.

However, Ian Machado Garry recently picked up an impressive win over Carlos Prates, and weighed in as the backup for the UFC 315 main event.

And now just hours removed from Della Maddalena’s win over Muhammad, the Irishman has shared his reaction.

“I was wrong, Jack Della Maddalena is the new champion of the division, because Belal Muhammad didn’t shoot any takedowns, mental, I know,” Machado Garry began to explain in a video.

“So here are the matchups I think we should see in the welterweight division. I want to see Carlos Prates take on Geoff Neal… Leon Edwards is always moaning and f—— complaining, let’s give him the most awkward striker in the entire UFC in Michael ‘Venom’ Page.

“Now, you’ve got the new champion, Jack Della Maddalena, great performance but sloppy. Rumor is, Islam Makhachev’s moving up to 170lbs and if he does, all of us welterweights have to take a step back and give the man the respect he deserves.

“But if negotiations don’t go so well, then you’ve got a tall blonde Irishman who’s ready to take over the UFC and get that belt, and I will smoke Jack Della Maddalena, I’ll box the ears off of him,” the Irishman continued.

Della Maddalena sent Ian Machado Garry a shot during post-fight press conference

Prior to his main event on Saturday, Della Maddalena took part in the pre-fight press conference, in which he sent a shot towards Machado Garry, claiming that his son is not actually his.

The Australian then doubled down on his comment at the post-fight press conference, saying: “I said what I said and that’s what I think.”

Despite weighing in as the backup, Machado Garry will now likely have to wait for the culmination of Della Maddalena vs Makhachev, with Dana White revealing that they’re already working on that fight.
