Jack Della Maddalena already has an idea in mind for his first welterweight title defense, and Dana White is seemingly on board.
On Saturday at UFC 315, Jack Della Maddalena brought Belal Muhammad‘s short reign as the UFC welterweight champion to an end after a five round war saw a new champion crowned.
Immediately following his title winning performance, Della Maddalena sent a revenge message to the UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, who was waiting in the wings for the result of the title fight.
Makhachev immediately responded with a defiant message asking the Australian to keep his belt clean with the two likely to clash next.

Dana White answers Della Maddalena’s question regarding next fight
After the event in Montreal, fans were left furious after UFC boss Dana White no-showed the post-fight press conference, leaving many questions unanswered.
Despite skipping the post-fight presser, Della Maddalena revealed that he and White had a conversation on the phone backstage, revealing that White was happy with the Australian’s win.
And not long after, the exact details regarding their conversation surfaced online, as Della Maddalena asked for his likely title defense against Makhachev to take place in Perth.
“Islam Makhachev next, right? In Perth?” Della Maddalena audaciously asked White during their conversation.
“We’ll get this figured out,” White responded.
“Let’s go, cheers Dana, thanks Hunter (Campbell), I’ll talk to you guys soon,” the newly crowned champion replied.
“Alright buddy! See ya!” White said.
“Thank you for everything, I really appreciate it,” Hunter Campbell said, likely referring to Della Maddalena accepting the short notice opportunity after being pulled from his scheduled fight against Leon Edwards.
“I’ll check on you on Monday,” Hunter continued.
“Saved (the welterweight division), aye!” Della Maddalena cheekily said at the end.
Alexander Volkanovski reacts to Jack Della Maddalena’s historic win
Not long removed from the event, UFC featherweight champion and fellow Aussie, Alexander Volkanovski shared his reaction to Della Maddalena becoming the second active Australian champion.
“Della, well done my man, that’s an incredible victory. Massive win against a tough, well-rounded opponent in Belal. Incredible, two belts to Australia,” Volkanovski reacted in a video on his YouTube channel.
It is unclear when the UFC will target Della Maddalena vs Makhachev for but both Della Maddalena and Volkanovski are hopeful that the promotion brings the spectacle back to Perth.
