Hunter Campbell is a name that is quickly becoming known to UFC fans as he looks to be the man who could replace Dana White as president of the company.
The former lawyer has risen through the ranks in the promotion, starting as Dana White’s personal lawyer to become the chief business officer for the billion-dollar company.
Hunter Campbell’s relationship with White has taken him to the very top of the company, with speculation that he could be next in line to run the UFC after the current president steps down.

Who is Hunter Campbell?
Hunter Campbell is the current Chief Business Officer of the UFC, a role he has held since April 2019. He previously worked at Campbell & Williams from 2012 to 2017, before taking on his first role with the UFC.
Where did Hunter Campbell go to school?
Campbell initially earned an undergraduate degree from Washington University before achieving a master’s degree in science from Columbia University.
He then moved on to UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, where Campbell earned his law degree before going on to work for his father’s law firm, Campbell and Williams.
It was around this time that he would intern with the UFC, sparking a relationship with White that would continue for the next two decades. He became his personal attorney while working at the firm before securing a role with the company in 2016.
What does Hunter Campbell do in the UFC?
After the UFC was sold to Endeavour in 2016, White recruited Campbell to join the company full-time as their attorney.
He then became the company’s General Counsel in 2017 before becoming the Executive Vice President and Chief Business Officer of the UFC, the latter role he still holds to this day.
Campbell’s role in the UFC includes numerous responsibilities for the lawyer, including working closely with the matchmakers in setting up fights, negotiating contracts, and dealing with athletic commissions worldwide, to make sure UFC events can go on with minimal regulations from local bodies.
His responsibilities included negotiating with Jon Jones to get him to fight Stipe Miocic at UFC 295, which the promotion was having difficulty getting over the line before the fight was cancelled due to injury.
Ariel Helwani even commented that Campbell was more involved in the big UFC fights than anyone else, including White.
“The one who is probably involved the most, especially in the big fights, is Hunter. Hunter Campbell is the one doing the negotiations.
“He’s the one really on the phone lines, especially for the big fights. Like the Nate Diaz situation, you know, the Jon Jones and Stipe [Miocic] – all of that is Hunter.
“It’s very, very rare that Dana gets involved in the negotiations. It’s very rare that he’s [White] on the frontlines getting his hands dirty.”

Campbell is considered White’s right-hand man, being referred to as “the lawyer” numerous times over the years by the UFC president.
The two men travel together regularly for business and work closely together at the top of the company, making decisions as a pair.
In an interview with SportsBusinessInsider, White was full of praise for Campbell and the work he does in the UFC.
White said: “We’ve always had a lawyer involved on the fight side of things because obviously there’s contractual issues … and no one has ever done it as good as Hunter has.
“He’s super passionate about the sport, he’s super passionate about fighting, and he’s a f—— great lawyer.”
Will Hunter Campbell be the next UFC president?
While nothing has been announced regarding the next UFC President, there is heavy speculation that Campbell is one of the strongest successors to take over from White when he finally steps down from the role.
In his current role as Chief Business Officer of the UFC and his previous title of Executive Vice President, he has the experience to run the company as president, although it does not look like White will be leaving the company anytime soon.
