Dana White and security step in as UFC 315 main event face off almost gets ugly

Dana White was called into action during the UFC 315 pre-fight press conference.

On Thursday, the UFC boss fielded questions from fans and media ahead of MMA’s premier promotion’s return to Canada on Saturday night.

Ilia Topuria’s next fight was the main talking point during the Q&A part of the press conference.

However, the UFC 315 stars quickly wrestled back focus when doing the staredowns.

Dana White breaks up UFC 315 scuffle

Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena have been pretty civil ahead of their headliner.

However, things changed when the welterweight duo came face-to-face two days before scrapping for UFC gold.

For the staredown, Della Maddalena stood in a fight stance with his lead arm completely outstretched.

Muhammad didn’t like that. The champion swatted his opponent’s fist out of his face before Dana White quickly intervened and stepped between his fighters, who were also kept apart by two members of UFC security.

After a few moments to calm down, Muhammad and Della Maddalena were allowed to approach each other again, but the UFC CEO looked painfully uncomfortable as he stood between the two men for a few more seconds.

What’s next for the UFC 315 winner?

The welterweight division will be massively impacted by who wins Muhammad vs Della Maddalena.

A victory for ‘JDM’ will see Islam Makhachev move up to 170lbs and attempt to become a two-weight UFC champion.

However, the lightweight titleholder will stay put if his training partner, Muhammad, retains at UFC 315.

As a result, ‘Remember The Name’ will continue to defend against the next contender in line.

Ian Garry beat Carlos Prates to put himself in line for a title shot at UFC Kansas City two weeks ago.

It’s currently unclear if he will get the nod or if the UFC will wait for Shavkat Rakhmonov to return from injury.
