Ilia Topuria could be set to reveal some more major announcements regarding his fight at UFC 317 in a matter of hours.
On June 28, the Octagon returns to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the card that will headline 2025’s International Fight Week.
Fans are still speculating about what major fights will top the bill but one thing we do know is that Topuria will be involved after he announced when his next outing will take place.
This prompted the question of who the former featherweight champion will face, with some suggesting that he will immediately challenge for the lightweight belt following photos of a meeting between Islam Makhachev and the UFC’s Hunter Campbell.
Topuria already dropped one major announcement for UFC 317 when appearing on Spanish TV and he could be set to do it again on May 8.

Ilia Topuria will provide more information about his UFC 317 return in El Hormiguero appearance
In a recent post on social media, El Hormiguero announced that Ilia Topuria will be featuring on the show later on today (May 8).
El Hormiguero is a Spanish TV show that regularly features celebrity interviews having recently had sporting stars like Carlos Alcaraz and Marcelo, alongside actors such as Antonio Banderas and Millie Bobby Brown, as special guests.
The channel announced that Topuria will feature on the show via a graphic on social media which confirmed that he will be talking all about his upcoming fight at UFC 317.
We know that ‘La Leyenda’ will be fighting on this date and though there are signs which suggest that Islam Makhachev is also gearing up for a return to the Octagon, we still don’t know for definite that this huge matchup will be taking place on June 28.
Topuria could be facing a top lightweight like Charles Oliveira or Justin Gaethje instead but the caption of El Hormiguero’s post certainly suggests that the undefeated star will be shedding some light on the details of his next fight.
“Tonight we receive the champion of the UFC with 16 wins, Ilia Topuria! He will tell us all the details about his next fight in Las Vegas on June 28.”
Belal Muhammad isn’t concerned about Islam Makhachev’s current plans
The major factor that could prevent Ilia Topuria from fighting Islam Makhachev is if the lightweight champion decides to move up a weight class.
Makhachev preparing for UFC 317 wasn’t the only talking point following the photos of him meeting with Hunter Campbell as fans questioned whether this was to talk about his welterweight move.
Belal Muhammad, who has trained with the Makhachev and his team in the past, defends the welterweight title this weekend at UFC 315 but he isn’t concerned about decisions that could be made behind his back.
“No, I don’t think they would do that,” Muhammad told MMA Junkie. “I talk to Khabib [Nurmagomedov] all the time. He even messaged me the other day so like I said, those guys are so big about loyalty and I’m the same way.”
Regardless of what happens at UFC 315 on Saturday, it seems likely that we will have more clarification regarding both the lightweight and welterweight divisions come next week.
