Shevchenko lost her title to Grasso in the first fight before failing to regain it in a draw in the second. However, the Kyrgyzstani fighter came out on top on their third and final fight, becoming a two-time world champion in the process.

What languages does Valentina Shevchenko speak?

Being from Kyrgyzstan, Shevchenko has had the opportunity to learn multiple languages through her life. She currently speaks four languages, which she showed off in the post-fight interview after her victory at UFC 306.

Following her win over Grasso, Shevchenko showcased her language ability by conducting her interview in English, Spanish, Russian and Thai.

She learnt Spanish while living and training in Peru, while Russian is one of the official languages of Krygyzstan and was her mother tongue. She also trained in Muay Thai, which is where Shevchenko is suspected to have learned the language.
