Belal Muhammad vs Leon Edwards
Muhammad picked up the biggest win of his career when he dominated Edwards over 5 rounds in July 2024.
The pair were the main event of UFC 304, with Edwards’ UFC Welterweight title on the line. Despite Muhammad being out-fought in their last encounter, he won the fight by unanimous decision to win his first title in the UFC.
This was their second fight, with their first ending in disappointing and controversial circumstances.
Belal Muhammad thought he went blind after Leon Edwards fight
The first fight between Muhammad and Edwards didn’t end how anybody wanted it to.
The bout went well for Edwards in the beginning. He dominated his late-notice opponent in the first round, being much more aggressive and landing more punches, as well as hitting a big head kick on the Palestinian-American.
However, despite winning that round convincingly, the fight would end just 18 seconds later. Edward’s finger found Muhammad’s eye, causing the fight to be called off immediately.
The current UFC Welterweight Champion even though he was blinded by the poke, as he told The Sun.
Muhammad said: “I literally thought I was blind. The toughest thing I had to do was deal with the eye surgery.
“When you have an eye surgery, it’s the most depressing thing because you can’t do nothing.
“You have to be in a certain head position for, you know, four or five months. You can’t train and I love to train.”
