Demetrious Johnson reveals the amount of money he wanted the UFC to pay him to fight TJ Dillashaw

Demetrious Johnson has opened up about the figure he wanted the UFC to pay him to take on TJ Dillashaw.

In his sparkling career, ‘Mighty Mouse’ cemented his status as an all-time great, utilizing his phenomenal skill set to destroy an array of high-level opponents.

However, for some, his resume was missing something. Interestingly, Johnson was offered a chance to fight Mikey Musumeci in a mixed rules clash.

But it’s not the Brazilian jiu-jitsu legend that people really wanted to see him face, but the former UFC bantamweight champion.

Demetrious Johnson wanted $1 million to fight TJ Dillashaw

At one point in time, Demetrious Johnson vs TJ Dillashaw would’ve been a truly special contest, with the pair of gifted athletes both in the upper echelons of the pound-for-pound rankings.

With so many fans intrigued by the outcome of the contest, the now ONE Championship Hall of Famer, wanted to be well compensated.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, the icon said: “When it came to any 125lbs fighter in the division, I fought every single one of them.

“The only fight where there was any kind of push back was when I was about to fight TJ Dillashaw., because I wanted $1 million to have a superfight.

“That was a materialistic thing, and he wasn’t a 125lbs fighter. There was other stuff in the contract that we wanted, but it never came to fruition. But it is what it is.”

While the Dillashaw bout never materialized, Johnson still had an array of exciting fights, beating almost everybody who set foot inside the cage with him.

However, while the American emerged victorious more often than not, there were occasions when he fell short.

During one particular contest, he showed glimmers of brilliance, but was ultimately overwhelmed by his opponent.

During an interview with Bloody Elbow, the UFC legend explained how he beat Johnson.
