A fan favorite in ‘STREETBEEFS’ finally recorded his first win after receiving some proper training from one of the greatest UFC champions of all time.
This past weekend was a big one for combat sports even if the back-to-back Fatal Fury boxing events didn’t deliver with the likes of Canelo Alvarez receiving criticism.
Alongside Cory Sandhagen and Reinier de Ridder getting big wins at UFC Des Moines, we even got an update about one of the biggest fights of the year with Alvarez vs Terrence Crawford launching TKO boxing.
However, for a small portion of fans, the fight that they were most invested in didn’t take place inside the Octagon or in Times Square, it happened in the popular backyard fighting promotion, STREETBEEFS.
One of the most popular fighters on their YouTube channel, which currently has 4.27 million subscribers, had failed to record a win until he was able to pick the brain of one of the greatest to ever do it.

Training with Demetrious Johnson pays off for YouTube backyard fighting star ‘Death Sentence’
In several videos posted on his YouTube channel, former UFC flyweight king Demetrious Johnson spent some time training with the a backyard fighting sensation who goes by the name ‘Death Sentence’.
After watching several of his fights, Johnson had him on his podcast where in the comments below the video, ‘Mighty Mouse’ wrote that if the video received over 250,000 views, he would personally train the amateur competitor.
Nearly 677,900 views later and one of the most dominant champions in the history of the sport stayed true to his word as he documented their training journey.
In his first fight since the training sessions, ‘Death Sentence’ faced off with ‘Illuminate The State’ but after he went straight back to his wild striking techniques, which followed his usual pre-fight showmanship, fans joked in the comments of the video that the knowledge had gone in one ear and straight out the other.
“Bro went from flailing wild and ineffective punches with zero coordination to flailing wild and ineffective punches with zero coordination. DJ is truly the GOAT.”
However, once the fight hit the floor, he did show some improvements despite this area being his downfall on multiple occasions in the past.
He was able to get back to his feet before taking his opponent back and threatening with a rear-naked choke.
“Death sentence choking him out after training with Mighty Mouse with no prior jiu-jitsu experience is peak cinema,” reflected one fan whilst another stated that it was an emotional experience. “No fake s—, I teared up watching him work on the ground, I’m so happy for bro, truly. So proud.”
After the fight was briefly separated, ‘Illuminate The State’ accused his opponent of cheating by hitting him in the back of the head and when he refused to keep fighting, ‘Death Sentence’ was declared the winner.
Fans responded to the method of victory with replies like, “DEATH SENTENCE BY INTIMIDATION IS CRAZY” and “Bro just aura farmed his first victory.”
“DJ created a monster. Man turned into a certified villain”
Demetrious Johnson is the perfect man for this somewhat bizarre role
A sentiment that is expressed across the several videos that they have made together is that Demetrious Johnson is the coach that ‘Death Sentence’ needs.
‘Mighty Mouse’ has always been one of the most well-rounded fighters in the history of the sport who is excellent at breaking down matchups.
Not only that, it’s clear from the videos that Johnson genuinely wants to help the fighter rather than putting him on camera so that fans can laugh at his journey.
The finale of their training series releases next week with fans waiting to see whether the charismatic competitor can turn things around after recording his first win.
