Islam Makhachev says Frankie Edgar is his favorite UFC fighter of all time

During his time in the UFC, Frankie Edgar became a hugely popular mixed martial artist with fans around the world taking to his humble personality and the all-action style he brought to the cage.

His ferocious will to win resonated with Islam Makhachev, who told Demetrious Johnson during an interview on his YouTube channel, that ‘The Answer’ is his favorite fighter.

He beamed: “One of my favorite fighters is Frankie Edgar because I love his style. He is not big, he fought 155lbs, and go easy to 145lbs.”

After praising the icon, Makhachev offered his respect to the host, saying: “One of my best fighters is you, I’m always watching your fights, and you see how when you come to the gym everybody loves you and they’re all your big fans.”

The future Hall of Famer then made a lovely gesture to his friend.

While Makhachev constantly argues with Daniel Cormier about Dagestan, it’s fair to say that the region is renowned for producing resilient competitors.

The sport is slowly being taken over by fighters from the area, with so many representatives putting on grappling clinics against the best athletes in the world.

With that in mind, many a martial artist would love to have the opportunity to travel there to hone their craft.

In a heartwarming turn of events, Makhachev invited Johnson to train in Dagestan.
