Jon Jones continues to tease fans on social media, this time posing with a real life ‘goat’ as talks over his next fight heat up.
While UFC boss Dana White continues to insist that Jones will unify the division by fighting interim champion Tom Aspinall, reports from around the sport seem less confident. In a recent YouTube video, the Brit bemoaned the continued silence from the promotion and his lack of activity since last summer.
Now, Jones appears to be enjoying his side businesses including a number of media appearances and the launch of his Dirty Boxing Championship promotion with Mike Perry. The status of his next fight, or a potential retirement, is unknown.
Jon Jones teases fans with ‘GOAT’ post on Instagram
In a new post on Instagram this morning, Jon Jones teased fans as he posed for a photo with a real life goat, playing on the acronym for ‘Greatest of All Time’. He is widely considered the best fighter in UFC history, albeit despite a number of failed drugs tests and myriad controversies.
He captioned the photo ‘baaa’, but was not received well at all by commenters who seemingly unanimously mocked him for ‘ducking’ Aspinall. Before comments were limited, a number of posters were able to get in digs over his refusal to face the interim champion.
One user wrote that Jones is the “best heavyweight of all time. But not giving the chance to the younger generation/stepping out of their way is sad.” Another joked that he is “doing anything but fighting Tom Aspinall.”
Dana White vows to make Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall
Despite reports indicating that Jones appears to be moving away from the fight, UFC boss Dana White remains confident of the match-up happening. He spoke with the media on Saturday after UFC Kansas City and declared that he still thinks it will go ahead.

“Everything you hear is bulls— until we say it,” he insisted. “I’ve said it many times, that’s the fight we want to make this year. Still super confident [it happens].”
However, Aspinall seems more keen on just getting activity after last defending his interim belt in July at UFC 304. His cage time is the lowest of any UFC champion, and he wants to increase his output regardless of what Jones is doing.
