Dana White reacts to Ian Garry claiming he will play key role at UFC 315

Dana White has confirmed that Ian Garry will have an enormous part to play at UFC 315.

On Saturday night, the Irishman returned to action, hoping to get back in the win column after suffering a defeat to Shavkat Rakhmonov back in December.

In a tremendous display, Garry defeated Carlos Prates in the UFC Kansas City main event to put himself back on track to becoming welterweight world champion.

In just a matter of weeks, the Dubliner will fly to Quebec, Canada, knowing his dream could finally become a reality.

Ian Garry is the UFC 315 backup fighter

Ian Garry exhibited championship spirit in abundance on Saturday night, showcasing breathtaking skill in the first few rounds, before displaying his ferocious fighting spirit to survive a late Carlos Prates onslaught.

His statement victory has given the MMA star even more confidence that he’s got what it takes to scale the UFC mountain.

Following his big win, Garry claimed he was heading out to UFC 315, which takes place on May 10, to serve as the back-up fighter in case anything happens to Belal Muhammad or Jack Della Maddalena.

The 27-year-old beamed: “In two weeks’ time, I’m flying to Canada.

“I’m the official backup for the world title fight.

“I’m next in line for that title!”

Dana White confirmed ‘The Future’s’ claims at the UFC Kansas City post-fight press conference.

The businessman said: “It’s official.”
