Dana White provides major Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall update amid mixed reports on UFC unification fight

Dana White remains ‘super confident he’ll make one of the biggest fights of all time in 2025.

A heavyweight title unification bout between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall has been in the works since ‘Bones’ knocked out Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 in November.

Earlier this week, UFC legend Chael Sonnen claimed that the fight between Jones and Aspinall had officially been agreed upon, with a date set for what his old boss previously predicted could be the biggest fight in MMA history.

One day later, ‘The American Gangster’ backtracked on his claim and made another about Ciryl Gane stepping in to face Aspinall, who has been impatiently waiting for a fight date since blasting out Curtis Blaydes in 60 seconds at UFC 304 last July.

Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall update

Dana White watched from the front row as Ian Garry beat Carlos Prates in the UFC Kansas City main event on Saturday night.

Post-fight, he fielded questions from assembled media, who were keen to get the lowdown on Jones vs Aspinall amid mixed reports about the eagerly anticipated champion vs champion fight.

“Everything you hear is bulls— until we say it,” White insisted.

“I’ve said it many times, that’s the fight we want to make this year.

“Still super confident [it happens].”

Dana White confirms different UFC title fight

White is even more confident that a fight between Dricus du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev will happen.

Fans feared their middleweight title bout had collapsed when rumors about ‘DDP’ breaking his shin in training were spread by 185lb contender Caio Borralho.

Du Plessis shut down the ‘untrue’ rumors about his health and insisted his fight with Chimaev is still on, although he admitted it won’t be happening at UFC 317 on June 28 as initially expected.

“We all know that fight is happening, the Du Plessis vs Khamzat fight,” White said.

“It’s happening. It’s just not happening International Fight Week.

“That fight is done. It’s just not happening on that one [UFC 317].
